My first reaction to the story was "how conceited!"
Granted I haven't heard any direct voice of Oprah, the article & news didn't sounds right to me.
She visits Hermes Paris 15 minutes after closing time, but the store people turned her down to shop, so she is upset. She thinks if it was a white celebrity, they would be allowed in to shop.

Why is she upset? Why couldn't she think it's wrong of her to expect to shop after closing hours?

I know most of you probably are not interested in this story itself, but the moral behind this story doesn't sounds right to me. 1 white person who told me this story originally said that she will get a lot of support from the US because it deals w/ minority discrimination. I didn't even see discrimination in the story...

I have a fairly direct comparison:

Michael Jackson + Disneyland, after hours - if memory serves, the park closed early for his entourage of little boys and, and... and boys.

I don't think Wackoffo was white yet, and I'm pretty sure he had an appointment.

The TV TraumaDrama Queen was not humiliated, she's lacking humility. In this case, timing was everything, while irony was the operative word, as the store was being prepped for a P.R. event - normally her specialty.

What does she want herpes for, anyway? Is she going to give it to her audience?

    Will,
I saw her show about 2-3 times, so cannot say I'm her fan.

Anyway, I always wondered how people can watch daytime talk show while they are working, like me...

I normally don't care for these gossip, too, and it was by pure chance that I run into this story. And I sensed some danger in the story.

Individual using misled opinions/feelings against something/someone by using mass media.
Using a word "discrimination" & "prejudice" in public should be more careful.
Before blaming on something or someone, couldn't she just think the store was closed officially, and she has too many entourage to bother store people.

I know I'm taking too serious of this story, which is the result of cancelled outing for tonight!

For some reason, I could never stand Oprah. I mean if I was offered the chance to go on her show, of course I would. But for some reason, I just can't stand her. Everyone looks up to her like a Goddess, ever see how all those women are in her audience? They think she is perfect. I see through it all though, and I have a feeling she is hiding something. Something horrible like a Sweatshop in her basement.

How about some Bon-Bon's like Peg Bundy?

The best thing about Oprah is the spin-offs: Tim Meadows did a great one on SNL!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, she plans to do a show exploring the "race angle" of this story. Pathetic. Celebs get special treatment at these types of stores WHEN THEY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. I'm not sure about Paris, but some shops on Rodeo Drive will even close the doors during normal business hours if a celebrity shows up and requests it (and agrees to drop a huge wad of cash). Obviously, Oprah did not have an appointment in this case and should have never made an issue of this. She cannot come out ahead unless someone from Hermes goes on the record stating that they intentionally snubbed her because she is black.

Hmmm, the I guess the race card doen't have quite the same punch over there as it does back here in the good 'ol US of A. So when's Jesse and Al hopping a flight for gay Paris? Now American celebrities have a reason to boycott the French, like the rest of us proletaria, since the WTC incident wasn't quite reason enough.

Sorry for the slight P&R crossover.:)

So she turned up 15 minutes after the store closed..................

With all the money she's got you'd think she could buy a decent watch!

Playing the race Card over this just highlights how irrelevant the colour of your skin should be. Oprah should come back when the store IS open like everybody else

What was even funnier is when those rednecks tried to sue her because she used her show to utilize her freedom of speech.
Now, this is all hear say on the 15 minute late thing and she's already a racist. How do we know this is true? Has this been confirmed by anyone yet or herself. I think it's funny how you guys already hung the girl already.
