I've been a lurker for a while but im excited to say that I will be ordering my 430 in a few weeks. I've read a number of posts regarding options, but my question (for those of you who have had the car for a while now) is, knowing what you now know about the different options available, etc., if you could do it all over and reorder your car, would you do anything different?

What are the best options in terms of value and resell? Im not that familiar with the ferrari world, so I cant really gauge what options are worth having vs. going aftermarket.

    Here's what im thinking:

Corsa/Black int, Shields, Challenge stradale wheels, TPMS, brake calipers in red, leather upholstery for headliner, standard stitching (red), daytona seats, electric seats, seat piping, carbon fiber driving and lower zone, leather upholstered rear bench to compliment carbon lower zone, fire extinguisher, prewiring and kit for battery charging, hifi sound, navigation/bluetooth, front and rear parking assist.

Is this overkill? Im really questioning the carbon pieces...for almost 9K...is it worth it? Can I get aftermarket pieces or should I just stick with factory? Do aftermarket pieces (e.g., carbon fiber, stereo/navigation, etc.) devalue a car because it's not original ferrari?

Regarding the carbon fiber options, what exactly is does the driving and lower zone consist of (steering wheel, ac vents, center console, lower console, door sills, etc.?)?

Is the hifi option really worth it or is it junk? How is the nav system?

Anyone have pic of the front and rear parking sensors? Will they ruin the looks of the front and rear bumper?

Also regarding the seat options (no race seats now...would have been my first choice), are the daytonas with electric the best option?

I thought about the carbon brakes, but it would really be more of a bling factor for me considering I dont have any plans to track the car. Are there any significant gains/advantages of going with ceramics over steel brakes for street use?

I think that's about it for now. Thanks in advance for your comments/suggestions.

So having no previous experience with Ferraris, was it easy for you to place your order with the dealer?

I want to be in a position to order a new Ferrari someday and probably without any previous experience with Ferrari.
Perhaps you'd have time to elaborate on this long story so I may learn a few things? That is, unless you feel that the best way to experience it is to go in and get your nose bloodied. ;)

I'd say overkill, and if your really looking for resale, you wont get a dime more for about half the options you listed.

The problem for anyone advising you is knowing your needs. Ceramic brakes are a waste of money, even for most who "track" their cars. No break dust and longer wear for $17,000. A battery charger is not necessary if money is an issue since you can easily wire a trickle charger. The added stereo is very personal and maybe for those who like to "crank up" music, etc.

I am curious about what is meant by "ordering" a car whose production run is sold out. Are you paying the over MSRP price to buy a car the dealer already had ordered?

    Good luck.

The decision to add CCB was one of the hardest for me. I don't plan to track my car on a regular basis and am a weekend driver. The three primary reasons for ordering the CCB were: 1. they look much better -- the steel brakes and calipers look anemic once you've become used to the CCB; 2. there is increased performance; and 3. (perhaps the most significant reason) if you are going to own the best sportscar in the world, you should have all of the latest and greatest technology available at the time of production. For this reason, I will be getting CCB and all performance enhancing options on the 599.

No, im paying msrp and ordering the car with whatever options I want. I wasnt aware that the production run was sold out? That was never communicated to me. The slot was originally for a relative, but ended up being passed on to me. So if indeed production is sold out...im one lucky SOB.

So your relative just happened to give you a $150,000 present out of the goodness of his heart?

($150,000, in case you didn't get it, is the current market price of an F430 less its MSRP)

I believe that you cannot order Challenge wheels with TPMS...same with run flat tires...only on standard F430 wheels. Good luck on your order, sounds nice!

Something else to consider (although I didn't see it in your spec) is the fact that there is no chance that of carrying the factory spare with the CCM's. The spare is too small to clear the big brakes! This might change your opinion on the runflats perhaps.

I was under the impression it was 30-40K on a coupe, and 100K or so on a spider?

Im still undecided on the CCMs. But if Skyler is correct, I wont be able to get the Challenge wheels with runflats.

Here's my .02. I have ordered a 360 the way I wanted it, and have a 430 "on the water".

Do a search on the relative salability of various colors--but red isn't called "resale red" for nothing--though it seems to be somewhat more popular with a tan interior. Apparently about 80% of cars are being ordered with shields, so that would seem to be a reasonable resale option as well (I don't like 'em, but I would take a car with them--the opposite often is not true--people who gotta have 'em gotta have 'em). Power seats (according to several dealers) are a good resale option as well--I have them, have ordered them again, and like them. Daytonas are quite popular--but realize they are a leather trim difference only.

Onto opinions. I think stiching and piping might look a bit overdone--and the red piping isn't my favorite on black seats (my first 360 had piped seats and I liked them, but not contrasting stiching). Have you considered doing the daytona vent stripes in red? (Or red seats with black vent stripes--Ferrari will do anything you want, for a price.) I have a mostly black interior with red stitching--I think that is a good choice. The caliper color is very individual--you can match the paint color, the shield color (predominately yellow), the wheels or the tires. To me red/red gets a bit lost.

I would not do hi-fi sound--I have had cars both ways, and it isn't much of an improvement, the subwoofer between the seats screws up luggage carrying ability, and the subs can rattle. I think the parking assist dimples look bad--do you really need them?

Agree with no battery charger. I would skip the fire extinguisher, and buy an aftermarker chrome halon one and mount it--you don't get the leather surround, but there are threads here on how to mount it, plus you can put it where you want it.

I don't like the carbon fiber in general--and I think it will carry no premium in the resale market--but if you like it, go for it.

The one option missing from your list is heated seats--these are so commonplace on upper end cars I suspect they are going to become a must have option in the resale marketplace once they have been available for some number of years.

Remember, these are just my thoughts--buy what you want and enjoy the heck out of it.

according to my dealer this weekend when i signed off on my car, heated seats were never available in the spider and were just eliminated from the coupe. Can't get it anymore.

Also, the rear parking sensors are helpful in a spider when the top is up. They are also harder to see in a black car.

    Good post Scotty.

Power seats. . . I have never attributed much value to power in a car like this, but have heard that power is desirable for resale. Weird. Does power permit the seat to adjust in ways manual cannot?

I think the adjustments are finer--and you don't have control over the cushion height and tilt as you do with power. I wish Ferrari would offer something similar to the E36 M3 manual seat adjustment--light, and adjustable every which way.

Interesting about the heated seats--I ordered them, but I guess I won't know until the car is hear if I got them.

It's great when that happens!!! Enjoy your car and leave the worrying to the rest of us.

Personally, when it comes to "my" home or car, I never thnk about resale. I don't buy to sell because , at least for me, it is like worrying about and living in someone elses house/car untio its time to sell.

    Again - all the best.

    Some great pointers...Thanks!

I was a little concerned with the seat piping being overkill with the red stitching..but i'll have to find some pics to see how it looks. Do you have any pics of your old setup? I'll probably go with one or the other (stitching or piping).

I will pass on the Park assist and mostly like the Hifi because of the common rattling problem with subs and potential space issue. There's very little storage space to begin with, might as well maximize it as much as I can since i'll be driving this car as often as I can with a few road trips here and there.

Re: heated seats, arent ferrari owners perceived to only drive the car when it's sunny and warm? LOL!
