important difference between porsche and ferrari options. porsche charges for performance options that change the way car drives. suspensions, steering, brakes, sport chrono, etc all add up to huge $. ferrari is mostly about style options. bicolore, fabrics, caliper colors, etc can either be replicated by owner for 20% what ferrari charges or ignored all together. either way i loved ordering my gtr and only option was color and if i wanted all season or summer tires.
few cars come without options these days of any kind. personally if I were going to buy a new ferrari I'd want it to be one I kept and had just the way I wanted.
I can see that you have never tried to order a 911 then. There are a HUGE number of purely aesthetic choices on the 911 that add up to a boat load of money. In fact performance options are relatively few. Try out the Porsche configurator one day and you will see first hand.
Ive ordered boxster, gt3, and panamera so i know all about 1500$ leather sun visors, a/c vents, ad nauseum. My point was that at least ferrari makes the performance std while porsche charges extra for that too. Manittino is std while sport chrono is $$
What erks me about porsche, is you have to pay to get colored porsche crests on the car. Otherwise they come through just black. I'm not sure if this is still the case but back in 08 I was looking at a car and I think it was 200 or 300 dollars just for colored center caps versus black crests. Then ad 2500 dollars for xenon lights, and oh you want brakes? thats an extra 1000 lol Its a small cost, but its just aggrevating that they stick it to you so hard for things like that.
They know it makes entry to porsche look affordable, and once you turn up and start ordering, you'd be embarrassed to stop the process even while the actual cost soars
I am so glad that my 3x8 came without, color stitching, colored brake calipers, carbon-fiber inserts, colored wheel rims, leather engraving, air bags, special engravings on the cars dedication plaque, AFS lighting system, cruise control, radio, colored seat belts, electric seats, rear parking camera and sensors, seat piping, suit holder, cup holder, side impact bracing, automatic transmission, and last but not least a rev limiter. Car drives great without all that stuff.
Really interesting and not a number I would have come close to guessing. But then again the special paintjob we have on order is +20K Options I can not justify spending money on however are: Front Lifter Back up camera Back up sensors Cruise Control GPS Upgraded Sound system (even though i buy it, it sounds awful) Adaptive headlights or whatever they are called Some of the CF upgrades are overboard as well, but to each their own.
