My local cigar shop just got a box of Coronas in today. I snatched a handful to squirrel away for a special occasion. Are these usually pretty green when released to market since there is such demand? If I were to smoke one today, would it be all it is lauded to be or should I lay em down for a couple months or more?

I have never even heard of them releasing a "green" OX. It should be fine right out of the store.

DrS is right. They are not released unless they are absolutely perfect! Probably fugazi, sorry. :(

OK, I couldn't wait. Before I saw your responses, I tried one tonight. It was incredible. Easily as good as most of the Cubans I've had and while different, it certainly is good as my favs: Padron Anniversary. Really an amazing smoke and worth every penny. Gonna try to grab a few more from my local shop if they haven't already sold out... I now understand why these have such a reputation.

Caveat: I've had some highly rated cigars fall flat on their face IME, but not this one. A great one!!

Rock On, man! Buy the whole box or you'll regret it! :)

Shoot, my people actually know those guys and know me as well.... Yet even so getting on the list for a whole box at a time was harder than getting on one for that new California!

But now that I am on it......

LOL. I hear you. I know the owner of the cigar shop well and he told me that these cigars just pop up every now and then... no ordering, no begging. Just random boxes show up on his door every few months...

I had one awhile back, I believe it was for completing finals. Lovely smoke. But very pricey... I have lots of other $10+ smokes that I enjoy on occasion (Padron Anniversary, Cubans when I can obtain them, or a few others).

Get a box and save them! They do get better over time!

The shop I go to has been selling everything Fuente makes for years but can't even get one box of Opus X or Anejos.

I had one of them opus X'x just like in the picture. It was great.

I was drinking in the hot tub, and then I felt like I was turnig green, so I had to put it out. Wasted about half. Great cigar though.

Extremely overrated cigar. I still have a handful of six or seven year old assorted shapes and sizes and none of them compare to any of my Cubans.

I have had mixed results. None I would call bad but some are absolutely epic. My favorite was the Don Carlos limited reserve from 2007 corona. #1 seed of all I've ever smoked except Cohiba Maduro Cuban.
