So,in light of this huge deal for RBR is anyone concerned that the ex CFO of Oracle Greg Maffei is now the CEO of .....Liberty Media? With the spotlight on the fiasco in Abu Dhabi is this possibly a matter being investigated by the FIA? https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/red-bull-f1-clinches-new-500m-title-sponsorship-with-oracle/2022/02/09/0d5e2264-89c3-11ec-838f-0cfdf69cce3c_story.html
Liberty is only interested in creating "the show" ...now we have Netflix getting involved and a lot of interest is being generated in the USA...so they will stop at nothing to create a grandstand finish to every race if they can . Maffei, as Liberty CEO ,likely has very close ties with his mates at Oracle , maybe he helped to broker the deal with RBR? So he has an interest in seeing Oracle RBR succeeding in F1 after their huge investment. One can imagine Liberty putting pressure on Masi to manufacture some drama and influence his decision making ...with the main thing being " entertainment" as opposed to Sport. Liberty is just building its investment in F1 to the point they can sell it off to the highest bidder ,probably Saudi/ Middle East..meanwhile casting a long shadow over F1 . The safety car issue is the tip of a huge iceberg, unseen for now but will surface eventually. There is more to this investigation ,which is being covered up .
For sure Toto is putting pressure on Masi , my point was more towards Maffei as head of Liberty media influencing how things go on at the sporting level.
People made a lot of noise when Todt became FIA president, for sure he'd be helping his old team Ferrari...nothing happened.
So we have volatile Crypto dark money all over the grid A F1 Liberty owner 'CEO' from a tech company - we all know how 'moral' they are LOL And now RedBull making deals with F1 CEO's former employer Yes the 'optics' of this are rather pathetic LOL. + Masi and all the Yas issues from the last race of last year and a new FIA leader. F1 - its not just a show - its a sh-t show at that LOL
Ex-Ferrari guy ran the FIA and now ex-Ferrari guy running F1. These guys were voted/selected with eyes wide open and I haven’t noticed any favors from Masi towards Ferrari. Also—and once and for all—Masi was just trying to get a race restarted instead of ending under a yellow, old-school NASCAR-style. The fact Merc weren’t thinking on their feet is their problem.
Oracle CFO Greg Maffei resigns after a short stint | Computerworld Greg worked at Oracle for a massive 4 months, 17 years ago. Pretty sure we can close this topic.
Given this and Ferrari's resources + caliber of drivers employed in this period, and the supposed helping hand from FIA with their previous Ferrari connections, I'm kinda disappointed it hasn't resulted in a 12 year straight run of championships. If anything it feels it has had the opposite effect.
If so, and if they have so much power over Masi, why didn’t they force the race to finish under a yellow/SC, old school NASCAR-style? I think you’re getting your villains mixed up a bit.
You are right ,must admit i have little knowledge of Nascar , perhaps the present day Nascar would be preferable to Liberty ? I have only seen a few races some time ago with guys like Tony Stewart , seemed to be a lot of crashes and crazy stuff going down but a great "show " for those who like it.
I'm not sure the FIA would have the power to do that. It has surrendered the F1 commercial rights many years ago, and only has a say in regulations and safety matters now. The financial side, the number of events, the choice of venues, the race format, and most of the technical rules are now decided by Liberty. Since Liberty is an American company, it's to be expected that F1 will have more of a US flavour in future.
Yes. 17 years ago after working at Oracle for only 4 months. I think it's quite a stretch to think this is somehow a conflict of interest.
What a coincidence we have ,Oracle dropping $ 500,000,000 onto RBR , and Masi taking orders from the RBR Sporting Director...this crap has nothing to do with 48.2 /15.3 or whatever else it's ALL about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
He's the perfect sleeper. No one would ever expect him with only 4 months of Oracle experience. [/tinfoil hat]
I'm sure if you guys look hard enough you'll find a picture of Masi once drinking a can of Red Bull. Best get the investigations started!
I've already warned him that only Mercedes FIA consperacies are allowed here. If you switch the names in this article from RB to Mercedes, this thread would be 30 pages already.
