Ok, so after changing my mind once or twice I finally settled on the following and the order is now in:

EXTERIOR - BICOLORE ROSSO CORSA WITH NERO ROOF (EXCEPT ENGINE COVER).
    INTERIOR - LEATHER (NERO)
    MATS - NERO
    CALR ROSSO RED BRAKE CALIPERS
CIDL CARBON FIBRE DRIVER ZONE+ STEERING WHEEL/LED'S
    CILR CARBON FIBRE CENTRAL BRIDGE
    LOGO SCUDERIA FERRARI SHIELDS
RSFD 20" FORGED SPORT RIMS DIAMOND FINISH
    RPMY YELLOW REV COUNTER
RSCH RACING SEATS (LARGE SIZE) LEATHER (NERO)
ROSSO RED CAVALINNO STITCHING ON BOTH SEAT HEADRESTS
    RUF1 UPHOLSTERED LEATHER ROOF (NERO)
    HAW1 HEAT INSULATING WINDSCREEN
MIH1 INN. ELEC. CHRO. MIRROR / HOMELINK
    NAVC RADIONAVI SYSTEM + BLUETOOTH
    SNDB HIGH POWER HI-FI
STC1 ALL STITCHING IN COLOR (ROSSO RED)
    TPM0 TYRE PRESS. MON.
PAR2 FRONT & REAR PARKING SENSORS
    PEXS SPORTS SILL COVER (NERO)
    DATR CARBON DASH TRIM
    CHIP ANTI STONE CHIP FILM
    CISK CARBON SILL KICK

Well, hope its not overkill on the options (or wallet) but that's how it is. There are some 'must haves', a few 'essentials' and a couple of 'desirables'. I found it tough to cut any of the above out with the only exception of reversing camera and 2-color leather. Those two were easy to strike off the list because I can live without the camera (parking sensors will suffice) and my original black/red interior was going to be too much on the eye. The alternative of wrapping the roof is like a job half done and would never look 100% right, no matter what anyone says otherwise. It sure not gonna last in 100 degree heat either. Its the priciest option but so is the whole package isn't cheap anyway. The front lifter is my only 'question-mark' right now but I think I can get by without it. Went with all leather instead a mix 'n' match of leather/alcantara where there shade differences, wear and cleaning issues put me off.
    Just waiting now till...March 2011 !

very nicely spec'd. Congrats. Spec'd mine very similar except Bianco in place of your Rosso. As for front lift, I added it. You said you "THINK" you can do without. I THOUGHT i could too but didn't wanna find out the hard and costly way that I THOUGHT wrong. I'm waiting for jan/feb deliv. When's yours?

Back when there were only the official Ferrari studio images of that red 458 the idea of a black roof became a popular choice. Nice to see the image idea carried to a conclusion for the real 458. Good mix of options you have chosen.
Still like the idea of a black car with the red interior to...

Isn't tire pressure monitoring standard for US market? There is also option CRPK that combines carbon on dash, wheel, instrument cluster, center console.

Get the lift its the best option. Any 458 owner that has one will tell you they would never buy another ferrari without it if its offered. Its has nothing to do with your driving skills or being macho crawling and angling down a driveway into traffic. Its just commom sense. Its better for you and better for your car.

Can't say if the lift is a must with the 458 since I don't own one. I can say this however, having owned two GT3's, one with and one without the lift, the lift made my life a whole lot easier. :) On the GT3 without the lift, the chin spoiler was beat up badly but was a $250 replacement part... Somehow I doubt you can take care of a situation where there is a scrape on the 458's chin with $250... :)

My 430 spider's front bottoms slightly when I leave my driveway if I don't go off at an angle, the 458 without the lift option is no problem even going off straight.

Don't agree at all. It adds weight and mechanical complexity to the car. I've put 300 miles on my car and haven't ever needed it, despite some serious speed bumps in my area. Unless you know you need it due to a steep garage ramp, driveway ramp, or something like that, it's really unnecessary.

I ended up finally adding the front lift system at the end. It would probably cost just as much to replace the front lip. Also, if I were in the market for a used one, that is an option that I would see real value in as well.

Not true. I had a GT3RS with the lift and it was invaluable as the front lip of that car is much lower than my 458. I did not get the lift on the 458 as the clearance is much higher on this car and I have not needed it ever after 1200 miles of driving the same driveways, roads, and speed bumps that I did with my GT3. I live in new england so plenty of opportunity to test this. On top of that my dealer advised me NOT to get it as he had heard of problems where the lift compressor burned out if lift is left in the raised position.

As a precaution dealer installed a replaceable skid plate under the nose for $500 that would take any scrapes. It is still as-new.

The front clearance on US 458 cars is much higher than comparable sports cars. Save $3500 and the weight and additional mechanicals. If OP lives in Florida I cannot imagine when it would be needed.

Sure, I am in Florida which is the main reason why I think I can do without the lift. Not sure how low the 458 sits in relation to a 612 but I have never scuffed my 612 on anything yet.

I just came back from ferrari of Newport Beach and they say everyone who has one loves it and everyone who didn't get it is bumbed out when they talk to someone who has. Has any 458 owner ever said it was a waste and wouldn't wouldn't get it again. I don't need those power adjusting mirrors but the sure come in handy

The front clearance height of the 458 is higher than the 430. We have plenty of humps in our car parks and i have not experience any problems. Friends who have spec the lifter have not had to use it. I would not recommend it.

I dont see how owners could be bummed out about getting it if they end up never having to use it. I would be bummed out if I had gotten it and then realized I spent $4500 on an option I never use. As I said, I have driven 1200mi in new england which is plenty hilly and bumpy and I have never touched the lip AND I don't worry about doing any angle approaches like I would with a lower car.

Comparing the lift to AC and electric windows is silly. You use AC every day. You would never use lift.

Ever think dealer just wants you to spend the extra 4500 so they get extra 2k profit?

Judging by the comments here there are plenty of owners that don't have lift and have had no clearance issues.

It's funny reading everybody go back and forth about the lift. Plain and simple, why do people get health insurance? Life insurance? I'm not worried bout dying or going to the hospital everyday, but I still pay for it.

Every year one waits, a new hot item becomes cheaper, and possibly more used. Some people have more time than money, and some people have more money than time. Depends on the individuals and their situations.

People ordering a new 458, I don't think 5K more is really an issue on a potentially 300K ride.
