The story of the car that told me

The history narrates that it was ordinate to the Motor in Modena from a cinema/tv producer for the sequel of Magnum PI, so Motor has made a order to Ferrari Factory, but the producer didn't do anymore the sequel and the car it was not retired, therefore it has remained near Modena and now it's owned by a collector.

    Dr Tommy,

FWIW, see my posts #35 and 37 in the "328 Cabriolet??" thread. I had the history in the book I speak about, but not the pictures. Now, I think I am a true believer...

    Hi,

i'm surprised, but not so much, that there has been inquiring on the unique Ferrari 328 cabriolet!
I can tell that at the end of' 80ies, I was on that car, with Ing. Mario Vincenzi, who was spending holidays in the same place I was on the Garda lake. The history he told me was that the car was a project not more followed, that the car had to be demolished and that Vincenzi, previously employed at Ferrari farm, was asked if inetrested to it. The following is obvious: the car was acquired, with the only restrtiction taht the car be registered, with regular paper and plate in order to circulate, only when the 328 models had been out of production, i.e. when the new 348 would have started to be saled.
I had no longer contacts with Mario Vincenzi from that years, and now taht I have finally one Ferrari car ,it will be nice to meet again that gentleman and refresh some other hisrtories he told me. I remember taht he also had from Ferrari the only one 411 cabriolet, a project suspended for lack of security for a car too large and heavy remaining without the rigidity of the roof. (Pavesi in Milan has been in the years transforming 411 cars to the open version, that one is a Ferrari open version)
Finally, I can say that all cars that Vincenzi had at that time were in yellow coilor (Modena city color), and with plates with "MO" + figures (also the 288 GTO prototype he had was in yellow.)
    Thanks for reading

    Federico

(unfortunately, i have no photos of that car)

A true unicorn and very special one-of-one. Is #49543 still owned by Mario Vincenzi (or his family)?

It has since changed hands. It was on the market about 2 years ago for a very high price. Do not know if it sold then.

If it ever ends up on the market for a reasonable price maybe it will get bought here and we'll have a chance to see it. I think the ask a couple of years ago was 2 million? Thats crazy.

We have an 88 just a little earlier than yours.

I never saw the $2m advertisement, but my guess is it didn't go for that much (??). You never know, and I hope I’m wrong, but that seems out of line.
Still, a pretty car and very unique! I would love to see it in person.

Nerofer would know better than I. He keeps pretty close track of the cars in Europe. I do think it cool but I have no doubt project was killed to not compete with Mondial Cab. Interesting it was finished in US configuration. Had a market in mind I guess.

A wise decision by Ferrari to leave it at one example. My taste simply says, that a full cabriolet doesn't fit the 308/328 body style. The same I always said about the Lorentz&Rankl cars. Worse; the 512BB full cabrios.
    Best from Germany
