I was advised to post this in the 355 chat as well.....

    Original 550 Radio/CD Unit.....
Hi, I am normally on the Vintage thread, but used to own a 550 when it was new.

I am cleaning out my store cupboard and found the original 550 Radio/CD Unit that came new with the car. I removed the unit when the car was only 1 month old and fitted an upgraded system. The head unit and CD changer have been sitting in protective boxes since that day, even the protective case for the removable radio face is there!

I was wondering if they are desirable again, as everyone tries to return their car to original spec, do these things have any value?

Does anyone know if they were installed in any other Ferrari of the period?

    many thanks
    Mark

It looks exactly like the stock unit in my '98 F355 spider.

Was there ever a CD player or changer available for a 1995 F355?

    Thanks,

FYI to the OP, the changer looks like the exact model for the 1994-2002ish Volvo 850/S70/V70 trunk mounted CD chnager. Can't remember but I believe it was a panasonic unit that got white-labelled by a number of MFGs.

The volvo market might drive down your price, but you might find more demand for it. Probably not more than $100 or so though.

Since this is the OEM unit with "Ferrari" on the face, I would think that there would be some demand for a buyer looking to keep their car stock but wanting a CD changer. The cassette tape player is antiquated and I never use mine but the radio and cd changer works well on this model for original CD's. It does not recognize "burned" cd's on writable discs though. Even has an option to control a TV screen. Not bad for the 1990's.
