Now I want to try my hand at Zinc Plating![/QUOTE]

I would check with Caswell if I were you.

I tried doing it myself with homemade stuff but with the wrong chemistry it's a nightmare.

I got the Caswell chems and everything works like it should. I'm plating pieces as I go which is nice since I don't have to remember where all the bolts and nuts and washers go would I to send them off somewhere.

Can I piggyback on this thread since it's exhaust-related?

My exhaust header has a crack on one of the pipes.....3/4 of the way around and it seems the crack is more separated on the inaccessible side! To formulate my repair plan, do I need to know the specifics of the stainless steel (non-magnetic) used to make these headers?

How would you approach this repair? Cut a large opening on the accessible side to access the opposite cracked side and weld it? Stainless steel MIG wire and pure Argon? My TIG skills are not good yet. I have read that some guys weld a patch over the troublesome repaired area to additionally help bridge and stop stress cracks from recurring. thank you!
