I think you need a 4 digit code plus an alpha code AND the code for the ignition is different than the code for the door/gas (at least for the 308s). Check the website that Mike listed in his post above and it tells you.

    James in Denver

PS. I ordered from them via Ebay and the keys were PERFECT! and mailed fast too considering they are PAP's neighbors.

EDIT: 5 digit code..... as per the website listed by Barry (aka 308 GTB) above

Most likely they have a brass base which would make them a bit softer and therefore kinder on the lock mechanism.

And so it's wise to use duplicate keys for everyday use to preserve the tumblers. Take the original keys to concours.

OEM lock mechanisms are getting expensive. You need that expense like you need a hole in the head!

Are brass base magnetic? cause the one I got sticks to magnet.
This is what it looks like after I had it cut, I see a little bit of brass on the door key but none on the ignition.

Mine is finished in nickel with a brass base. It won't be attracted to a magnet.

Does the folding one from the 328 the same as the 308's?
If so, where can I get a blank folding one?

I have this blank folding key but am not sure if its for a 328. It looks like it has an extra groove compared to the photo posted by Red 328 GTS. The part number on the box is 168786.

Someone could check the part number but I suspect it may be for a 348/Mondial T or Testarossa.

The same key should fit both, Mike. The folding key pictured just above is for a 348 and are readily available. The one for yours is hard to get.

Contact Daniel at Ricambi. If anyone can find it, he can.

16876 is the part number for the F50 key which supersedes the folding key. The 328 folding key's part number is 95401153. The key in your picture looks like the one for the Mondial/TR/348.

A while back there was a discussion about the small pouch key that is used for the pouch on the back of the passenger seat. I tracked down the supplier but they sold out of the key. I suspect there was a run on the keys from a few FChat members.

Does anyone have a spare or two that they would be willing to sell?

    Thanks,

    -F

I got a 168786 blank from Ricambi which works fine on my 328. Unfortunately, they claim that that blank is no longer available.....

New genuine Ferrari blanks are now only available from the dealer and then only if you provide proof of ownership. Ferrari also no longer allows dealers to stock blank keys, they are special order only, at least acording to the parts guy at my dealership.

Any genuine Ferrari keys available from aftermarket sources are probably left over from the days when anyone could buy them. I know that Ricambi sold out of blanks quite some time ago and they can't get any more.

I just got my set from keys4classics -- fantastic service! Probably less than a week with having the keys cut.

I specifically requested nickel-plated brass for both keys and the description on my invoice ($28.95 cut from my codes) states that both ignition and door key are brass. They also offer steel ignition keys so you should check. Part number on mine was 068 NE9A.

Not original, but at least I can treat them like normal keys and put the two original sets away for safekeeping/concours.

So if I understand correctly, I can go to my Ferrari dealer and get a new oem key...for my 328 and it will have the black plastic end with the prancing cav?
