Hello, I feel like I just made a major breakthrough. If you already know about this, don’t thrash me publically since I don’t get this feeling very often. A while ago, I decided that the original power window switches in my ’85 308 were looking a bit worn. So, I had the dealership replace them with a new set. To my surprise, the new set was different. The arrows were solid and back lit. They look good, but being a bit of a purist, I decided to track down some original switches with the arrow outlines (see image below). To my dismay, it not only appears that they aren’t produced anymore, but used ones are extremely rare and expensive. I saw two original switches on eBay… one was $76 for one switch while the other was $75 for one switch. They were both used and worn (about the same as my original switches). So I started searching the Internet for another producer of these switches. To my amazement, I found them. They are produced for (get this) 1998 – 2001 Hummers. They have all five contacts on the bottom and are the exact same size as those on Ferraris. The best part is that they’re $6.50 each. So, after adding tax and shipping, the total was about $18.00. Not only do they fit, they also work exactly the same as the originals (eg, depress them until the window is completely down). Here’s the details. I can't tell from the picture but are they smooth or textured finish? Ferrari used both for different applications. Good find BTW.
These are textured. I wasn't sure if the Ferrari switches were smooth or textured due to wear. Thoughts?
Brian- Do you know if those are the same switches they used on the Series II 400i?? I got a couple that could use replacing. Great Find- God bless the internet!
Geez I thought you spoke Ferrari part #'s like a new language! I'll check the Ricambi diagrams and see if they are cross-referenced...
Ricambi shows this switch as 114633. It appears to be smooth. So, now I'm wondering about the texture in the ones I found. The switch on Ricambi also only shows 4 of the 5 connectors. That may not be a problem, I don't know.
Part #'s me? You got me confused with someone else. Mechanics just walk up to the parts window and say "Ugh, I need this".
