Hi, you all know that I've been searching for a RH mirror to match the original LF on my '82 US car. Well, I finally found one, but it's $625US!!! OUCH!! Do y'all think that having original will help someday at resale? I COULD just by a pair of Vitalonis much cheaper, but I really do like the originality. My car has original paint and now has 21,000 miles, that's 2000 since I've owned it, 2 years. Am I nutz if I spend $625 for a plastic flag mirror? All opinions are appreciated, oh, and I already know.......I am nutz. But what about that mirror? heeheehe Ciao, Dennis

Your car only came with one when it was new. When you finally get one you will need to drill at least 3 holes in the door. If you want it to power up you need to start running wires and will need to find the remote adjuster - good luck with that little search.

It will cost $$$$$ to make the car unoriginal. It's your car, but why bother?

I see your point! I just hate city driving with only one mirror! I wouldn't bother powering it up, but I would have to drill holes in the door! Hmmmmmm.......haven't dented it yet without it. Dennis

When I bought my 1981 in 1989 I felt the same way about driving with one mirror. I did buy one that matched, but never did try to have it wired up. I am the only person who drives it, so I just adjusted it manually and never had to change it. I paid a lot less than $695, but it still wasn't cheap back then because it was a motorized mirror. I wasn't sorry that I added it even though it did not come with it originally.

I have the same "dilema". If it were me I would replace both, keep the original and wiring. If you sell I don't think it's going to break the deal...as long as you hold onto the original mirror. And if it's a "driver" you will be forgiven ;)

I don't think anyone cares if the car has one or two mirrors. In fact I bet there are only about 10 people on this planet that even know that they only came with one.

The trick is just overcoming the desire NOT to drill that first hole in the door to put one on. Once you do it there is no going back and you had better try it on for position first. You will be surprised just where it has to go. It doesn't go in the same spot as the driver's side.

I grew up driving a Scirocco that only had one mirror and to this day I still can't get used to trusting that right side mirror on any new car, including my Ferrari (it's an 84 and had two from the factory). it's just what you are used to I guess and I am used to looking over my right shoulder. Been doing it for 25 years...

Call Ted Rutland and see if he has a good used one. I bet he does.
