I've just been invited to join friends who have organised a house nearby.. we will be a small group coming from downunder.. I've accepted the invite with both hands!

They said it takes 4 days to see it all.. fine with me! Amongst other things I would love to do some seaplane research and gather info for some ideas I have in mind.

Anyone here with plans to go? I know it's a way out yet but it would be good to maybe make some contacts in the meantime and say hello when there at the same event!

First... up here anyway, it's one word. Oshkosh.

You'll remember it the rest of your life.

Don't know if I'll be there yet.

2014 will be my 41rst year in a row.

The seaplane base is a great stop but there are also quite a few on the main airport grounds. There are usually all of the Gruman line and a Catalina or two.

Don't miss the fireworks on the weekend last year they had 2 shows.

Concert I think on Monday, usually a big name group from years past. We spend all week there and never see it all even with over 40 years experience.

    41!

I definitely want to check out EVERYTHING about the Grumman Albatross in particular and other seaplane topics in general, thanks for the heads up!

I don't know if the B-17 and Superfortress offerings are insanely booked out well ahead but I hope to get into at least something if at all possible..

Definitely going to need the 4 days then for the very first visit!

I think I'm going to try and go this summer, with my son. I've been invited by some friends who go every year, to camp with them.

It'd be nice to think that it'd be possible for f-chatters to meet somewhere sometime in all that since our paths would be crossing.

When I was there in 1983 I saw just about everything in 3 days, but it did take the whole 3 days, and the show has undoubtedly gotten bigger since then. I just wish I had made the trip in one of the years when they were selling Concorde "supersonic flights to nowhere" at a relatively affordable price. Unfortunately, those days are gone forever.

I went this year after a 20 year hiatus. Spent 3 days at EAA with a good friend and then headed over the FCA event at Elkhart Lake.

To really take in all that Oshkosh has to offer, you should plan on at least 3 days. You will want to spend some time at the sea plane base, and try to attend the Saturday night airshow - it is spectacular. On Saturday morning, they have a 5K run which is also a good time. If the budget will allow, I highly recommend getting reserved seats at the Aviators Club for the Saturday airshow. The club is air conditioned and all food - breakfast, lunch and dinner + snacks are included. This year we got to meet Bob Hoover and Sean Tucker at the Club.

I'm on the MMOPA (Malibu/Mirage Owner's Group) board, so I will most likely attend...unless I buy this Eclipse jet I'm shopping and have to resign my seat.
