I grew up just north of Milwaukee and used to drive by David Hobb's Honda dealership all the time.

Rob, looks like you flew into Timmerman Field, right?

Hey Ken, yes came into Timmerman. Greg is from White Fish Bay. Some of the air show flights canceled, has sucked so far, hope it gets better.

Air show turned out great, just a little delay because of ceilings. Most and best quality warbirds ever seen in one place. Saw Russ' plane. Met FerrariChat sponsors CXC Simulations. Will post pics and vids later.

I did not know Greg was from White Fish Bay. I grew up in Mequon which is just about 15 minutes up the interstate.

We had a great time. Well beyond expectations and that says a bunch with a name and reputation like "Oshkosh".

We based out of Milwaukee which was great, I have never seen a city with so many pubs. ;) Met up a few times with FerrariChat.com users. FerrariChat.com sponsors CXC Simulations was working with Icon, so we stopped by.

The warbirds blew my mind. (3) B-17's added to my personal seen list (not even counting Aluminum Overcast) which we didn't even see! (2) P-38's, (2) F-4 Corsairs, and tons of Texans and Mustangs. A real Zero, Seafire or whatever they call that, on and on. The airshow Saturday had 50-70 of the warbirds, all flying at once! The attack passes of the F-4, P-51, Sea Fury, and Mohawk with piro was cool.

Heritage flight of P'38's 'Glacier Girl' & 'Ruff Stuff' along with F-4 Phantom and F-15 Eagle.

Also some cool General Aviation stuff. I thought Cessna had a decent display and the Corvalis TT was getting as much attention as anything. When I saw the paint job online it looked terrible, in person it wasn't as bad. I think the only plane that will have the Corvalis beat is the Evolution, but still some work it needs for certification.

WOW!!! That looks like it was an amazing trip! :) The Ford Trimotor is pretty cool. The lineup of the P51s must have been something in person! I got to go there one day. :)

Great video catch on the fly-by. That was great having them come right overhead.

Nurburgringer, great story and pics of the B-17 ride. Someday.... :)

agreed, love the 'heritage' flights and that was one of the best I've seen!

cheers Ron - maybe you can try what I did, drop hints and leave print-outs of the flyer in strategic locations and get the flight as a gift :)

Not P-51's or F4U's but a very important part of our aviation heritage. In 1932 I was astonished at seeing a " huge" Boeing 247 at the old Washington Airport but several years later the DC-2 and -3 appeared and radically changed everything. When we were living at the farm in Potomac, Md. from 1931 to 1935 ( depression) I used to see the old airplanes flying over and I recall the red and cream Stinson tri motors of Central Airlines (I think), the silver Boeing Model 40's, the Curtiss Condors of American, and the Curtiss Falcons of the Army flying the mail for a while in the winter of '33-34. We were N.W. of Washington, D.C. and I imagine that the routes were to Cleveland and Pittsburgh. My interest in flying machines at that time made me a odd little kid and I was let alone to pursue my passion. My mother put up with me, however, because she was of the same ilk.
She started it, really, by taking my little sister and me to the old Washington airport ( where the Pentagon is now) to watch airplanes. Then on the way home we stopped at the Union Station to watch the steam locomotives. She was a different kind of lady in the early 1930's.
