I got ahead of myself, because on the way there we stopped by what I thought was the coolest part of the trip, the seaplane base. Can you imagine having a landing strip anywhere there's enough water? Our Lake house was just about a mile from the base, and in a perfect spot as we watched planes throughout the day.

We had a chance to meet Kirk Hawkins, a former Clemson graduate and founder of Icon Aircraft. It was interesting to talk to some of the other vendors who just don't get it. One in particular was very negative, and said there is no way they are going to make it. I recently read that Lotus will manufacture parts and I think Cirrus is involved as well.

These guys are smart, look at the team http://www.iconaircraft.com/team.html

    It is so cool http://www.iconaircraft.com/index.html

One of their challenges is to get the corps to allow seaplane landings on more lakes-we talked about that as Keowee and Hartwell in Clemson will not allow it.
