Our air condiitoner at home decided this evening would be a good time to stop working. Called a guy we were referred to, but he's in Garland and doesn't service the Carrollton area.

Anyone know someone? I know it's going to be tough on a holiday weekend.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I use Champion Air out of Plano. They're coming out to my house in Lewisville tomorrow to check the charge on the system. 972-398-6151

I can't help get a discount, but they've done work on our house and we've been happy with it.

EDIT: I think they're actually First Class Air or something similar now

Thanks. Called and left a message. Got another referral off-line that looks promising as well. Looks like the family will be out and about all day tomorrow! See y'all at dinner. Hopefully I won't be too sweaty.

I am among the civilized once again. Our A/C is up and running. Guess I'm glad it happened now instead of during the even hotter months to come.

See you all tonight. I will be the one who looks like he's been sitting in a refrigerator all day - cold and smiling.

Did you have to get a whole new unit? What does that run $$ these days?

Thankfully didn't have to get a whole new unit. Just needed a couple of capacitors and some freon. Apparently it has a slow leak. All in, I got out for less than $500.

A couple of capsitors and a charge should have cost you about $200.

When it's a holiday and you need it done, $500 sounds like a pretty good deal!

Two capacitors, weekend service call, 6 lbs. of freon, and I was in the $350 range.
