    ferrarichat band performance!

I think a driveout is more realistic...perhaps where we pay £1 for every mile we drive?

I've just been speaking to colleagues who are also keen to make a donation- we were thinking Red Cross, but we'll see. We are going to pass an envelope round over the next week or so (to catch people currently on hols).

I thought it a bit odd, but there's no reason to assume it is not legit- and as I see it there's nothing to lose in informing him of your donation.

I followed this link from Yahoo: http://www.bluepeter.redcross.org.uk/tsappeal/appeal.htm and donated £50 (do it. It's really easy). Afterwards I saw Gentry's post in OT. I PM'd him and said I reckon it was worth about $75. He has replied to say that he will match it with a $525 contribution to the Red Cross! Pretty amazing!
I guess it's one of those 'sounds too good to be true' things, but there's no risk on your part, so why not?

Gentry is just matching donations...not sure I'd go thru Houston Texas on my way to Thailand.....

Our Fchat section there in SE Asia has some alternatives............

There's a whole lot of people who will not be heard from again...that's kind of how "lost at sea" works..........as a coastal native myself, I understand.......

You'll see my comments on that other thread.....I hope your folks make their way home safely........

    Joe,

My company will make a donation of £500.

If we are not going to use one of the better known charities (Oxfam Red Cross etc), can we please check and double check the one that we are going to use is credible and 100% trustworthy. I dont want to be negative but we have all heard awfull stories in the past about charity money not going where it was promised. These people have sufferd enough already.

When you have decided just let me know who to make the Cq out to and where to send it.

Hope your people are found safe and well.

    Regards

    Stewart

The Unicef site is a good way to donate for those worried about scams. You know the money's going to the right place, and they don't harrass you for further donations* once they've got your details.

*Provided you appropriately marked the checkbox on the site.
