with apologies for the non-ferrari content (it seemed more appropriate here than in the general OT section), i'm trying to find out if it's possible to hunt one of these 1:18 diecasts down.

there's virtually no mention of it on the internet - just enough to know that it probably existed - back when.

    willing to pay good money.

if anybody has any data, i'm all ears!

    tia,
    doody.

we now return you to your f-car content.

I know that they were made. The funny thing is that I can find every other BMW art car in 1/18 except that one.

Apparently, it is the most desired model. My personal favorite is the Warhol M1 which I would have thought would be the most desired.

I would contact your local dealer, as that is who sells them, and see if they can find one for you.

One would imagine that if all the others in the series are available this one should be too. It may just be collecting dust on the backroom shelf at the boutique of a Bimmer dealer.

Do you guys know, that all these cars are being reissued this year?

Just talk to your local BMW dealer or get a copy of their owner's magazine.

They will release them one by one. I'm waiting for the Lichtenstein (scheduled for June 4) and the Warhol cars. Back in the early eighties I went to the BMW museum in Munich and saw them on display. They're so way cool.

I'm wanting those two also, to match a pair of Marek prints I have.

Tifosi12, have you seen the Marek prints?? They are pretty nice, given your interest in these particular cars!!

I think I have those. They are photographs of the particular car with a black back ground, correct?

Found them on ebay along with the official "Car Art" book from BMW describing all cars.

I collect pop art, so the Lichtenstein and Warhol cars will make for some nice 3D additions.

    No these are not photos.

Instead, they are prints of paintings the HE made of both painted cars.

They are signed and numbered Artist's Proof Prints or something like that.

Dam_, now I have to take a pic and post them. Or search artist Dave Merak.
Or maybe Marek. I can't remember now, I bought them long ago.

    thanks k5mcl!

BMW Art Car Miniatures are available in a scale of 1:18, boasting a wealth of details and a level of manufacturing precision that matches the originals. Every artistic aspect of the originals has been captured in order to create perfect pieces of art in miniature.

Initially, only 3,000 copies will be made, although this number will not be limited. By 2005, miniature versions of all 15 original BMW Art Cars will be available.

No e30 yet, but here is the best source for them:

    https://shop.bmwgroup.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/EUR/BMWFrameSet-Start;?CategoryName=LIFE

They are slower to rerelease them state side.

Andreas, I was not aware that they were rereleasing them. Good to know, I have seen some go for upwards of $500. You would have to be a huge fan in order to pay that much.

    Who makes these models?

    Is it Revell?

They made my father's M6 model that he got from the dealer.

Warhol painted it with brush and roller, you know.

I think he used his fingers to make the squiggles, IIRC

All true, you can even see his finger prints on the real car. Nicely done on the model too.

Warhol was the first artist to actually paint the Beemer himself, previous artists just made a model/sketches and somebody than applied that to the real car.

Kinda ironic: This one Warhol actually paints whereas many of his canvas works were done by his underlings in the factory.

    Yep, he was some cat.

you recall they found all that jewelry hidden in a flat file with the paper!

I couldn't get into that Marek site, but you should definately investigate those two prints. I'll try to take a pic of mine and post.
