I know (at some some of) the EC boyz have some very good taste, so here's a question for you: Anyone have any recommendations for a good custom shirtmaker in the NY area? I want a few nice shirts made to my specs, size, cut, etc. Collar type, button placement, material, etc. Any suggestions (at a variety of price levels) would be appreciated. nlh
sam and pchop, pm me details of what you guys are looking for. i mostly do large quanitities with minimums of 720-1200 units/color/size. if it was 1 or 2 maybe, i can have samples made up. i do womens clothes mostly, so i hope i am not making it for you guys to wear, well maybe pchop, but not you sam. but lets see what i can do zens! jc
- Paul Stuart - used, and like. Perfect spread collar. - Brooks Brother - not used, but know they custom make. - Thomas Pink - great selection of off-the rack, although poorer quality fabric than PS. Don't know of their custom-design capabilities. Got other shops as well, but let me know how these pan out.
JC -- Many thanks for the offer, but I'm not looking for large quantities right now... Just want 5 to 10 custom cut, tailored, etc. dress shirts for myself. I'm very picky about the style, length, fabiric, etc, and I'm sick of digging through department stores hoping to find something close to what I like, so I figure a custom shirtmaker is the way to go... <steering thread back on topic> Anyone have any experiences with shops in NYC? Hubi? Noto? Vik? nlh
I think our posts may have crossed. These guys should be able to build you the "perfect" shirt Noah. Just remember: point collars are for nukkas.
Alright... I'll take it easy. I just didn't have anything of value to add to this... the shirt I have with a collar and buttons came in a plastic bag with lots of pins, cardboard and tissue paper. Is Paisley still in style?
Nice -- you beat me to the punch on my reply... Pink doesn't custom-make as far as I know, and they're strictly dress+tie only. BB isn't quite my style (too conservative). Will check out Paul Stuart... Any ideas on some smaller shops (non-brand-name...) maybe? I have a feeling the best value is with some little Italian guy who has a shop down in SoHo and who measures you, shows you fabric samples, and whips out perfect shirts a few days/weeks later. nlh
I hear you. For that, I might suggest...David Noto. I'm sure he's got the hookup. I just recalled I was recently introduced to Tadine Custom Shirts (www.tadine.com), who bill themselves primarily as a high-end custom shirt designer. They pitched me a wide-variety of fabrics and styles, but I was too busy at the time, and so never got a chance to really check them out. Give 'em a call.
