There's a girl I haven't seen in 8 years - we sort of accidentally got back in touch just recently. We're going to get together when I get back from my biz trip in Cali (2 weeks from today) - we used to have a serious thing for each other but haven't been in touch at all since I moved to Los Anglees 8 years ago. What do you guys recommend for a memorable night out on the town?

I heard there's a great martini bar in N. Reading which may be a good starting point but I was wondering what you young happenin' guys would suggest? I don't think we'll go out to eat since I have problems with monitoring blood sugar, so that limits us a bit and I dont wanna do something lame like a movie.

Any awesome comedy clubs or theatrical performances anyone would recommend? Or any great date spots that really WOWed your lady? Hook a brotha up!

MFA is nice to walk around, see some classic art and talk - sounds like you'll have a lot to catch up on. I'd say North End for an Italian dinner but I base my dates around food! :D

Try the new Liberty Hotel at the Charles st. rotary next to MA General (where Buzzy's Roast beef used to be). Went there for drinks and dinner Sat. night and it was great (and they have rock star parking for nice cars). It is the old prison and they have a very cool bar / lounge on entry level floor called Alibi that has prison cells, etc. The restaraunt upstairs is called Clink and is a tappas (small portions) style place with great food and variety and a great atmosphere.

It's kind of hard to recommend a place without knowing anything about you or her but I'll give a few suggestions. What about a place where you can do something other than just eat or drink like Felt (play pool) or Kings (bowl) or Jillians (all kinds of games)? Or something like Top of the Hub where you can take in the view? Or something with a much more exotic feel like Pho Republique in the South End or the Casbah Lounge in Charlestown (where you can smoke hookah while belly dancers do their thing)? Cuchi Cuchi is a place in Cambridge where they make fresh hand muddled martini-like drinks (like blueberry cosmos with fresh muddled blueberries) which the ladies tend to enjoy.

Honestly, unless she lives up in N. Reading, there is no reason to head up that way just to go to a martini bar. There are tons of those in the city. But if you give us a better sense of what kind of place you're looking for, then you'll get better tailored recommendations. Hope this is helpful.

The Larz Anderson auto museum in Brookline is a good spot. You can follow that up with dinner somewhere close by.

I don't know about North Reading but there is definitely a great one in Reading called Venetian Moon, right on Main St. (close to the CVS).

I went to Davio's in Boston last week for dinner and had THE best steak I ever had. a MUST try is the philly cheese steak spring rolls..YUM. The overall dining expereince was excellent and I can't wait to go back. It's not a cheap place to eat (expect $200.00+ for 2) but worth every penny.

Nah I didnt end up finding her. You just reminded me of it though.... I will have to try again some time.

This is a girl I used to work with for a few years. I sort of had a "thing" for her back in the day. She's very 'prim and proper' - the librarian type. She doesnt drink, doesnt smoke, doesnt eat red meat, doesnt do anything 'bad'. She'd have a martini in a unique place though :) She's pretty cool, we got in touch and we're planning to go out and just reminisce and catch up.

Anyways after talking to a few folks I think we are gonna hit a jazz place called Scully's I believe. Its either that or some comedy club I heard about in Cambridge. We'll see! She's a ballroom dancer and often competes on the weekends so I think it will be next weekend we meet up.

Yep thats it. I've never been there but heard it's actually worth going to N. Reading for. I live very close by (right down the street practically) and she lives in Melrose, so we could meet up for a couple drinks then head into Boston. At least thats what I was thinking.
