    i have a passport 8500 radar detector and as of late it has been flashing me the "service required" message. if any of your guys have one and have been through the "service" process, please get back to me.

    Before you return it, try holding the mute button as you turn the unit on...it will try to clear the fault....if not send it back. Mine needed an new ant.

    IF it's not the x50 your 8500 is a little outdated. I say sell your current one on Ebay (if you can clear the message), and upgrade to a new V1.
