    Consumers and medical professionals I am in need of your opinions.

    I'm currently suffering from a severe allergy attack, possible sinus infection. Nose is running, yet stopped up in the upper bridge of nose area and a little behind the eyes. Which in turn is making it feel as though I have a headache, though I know it's due to the sinus'.

    What OTC Nasal sprays and cough drops have you used and recommend?

    I'm drinking plenty of fluids, and making sure to rest once I get home from work. Although I do go to the gym for 45 minutes and feel slightly better upon leaving. This started on Tuesday. I have been using a product called Sinus Rinse (http://www.neilmed.com/usa/products.php) on a semi-regular basis. Mainly because I do have fairly bad allergies and helps keep me cleaned out.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    believe it or not, the best cough drops i have ever used have been walgreen's brand, it's one of the few that i can stand the taste of, and it actually works the best for me. as for nasal sprays, i don't use them, so can't help you there. i would definitely say pick up some mucinex, when i was out with the flu earlier this year, that was the only stuff that really made me feel a little better.

    Get into a steam shower and put mentholyptus under the jet if you can....

    For me, Duration nasal spray stays effective longer than others....

    I'll look into walgreen cough drops, I'm going to Kroger today so I may try their brand.

    Funny you mention Mucinex because I do have some, but I'm out of DM which is the cough suppressant. And it does work pretty good.

    Never heard of the mentholptus treatment before. I'll look into it. Unfortunately I just have a standard shower, but I have been trying to take as hot a shower I can stand.

    I'm just trying to get myself to 90% by Saturday. My roommates having a big 30th birthday party and I can't be under the weather.

    You'll want to try different things. Some things effect me, some do not one bit. Mucinex works great for others, but doesn't do anything to me. The 4-way nasal spray works well to an extent. It isn't as tingly or desirable to my nose as afrin, which is a good thing. If Claritin-D works for you, try taking two, or (yes, I know it gets costly) take one 24 hour tablet every 12 hours to overlap. Otherwise, they drop off at 16-18 hours - for me at least.

    Oh yeah, Zicam will get you less symptomatic so you can function and Delsym is good cough syrup.

    Orange juice, coming from someone who was sick in bed for two weeks with a sinus infection, one of the best things you can do is to drink as much OJ as your body will allow.

    Thanks. I take Claratin-D on a fairly regular basis as my allergies are always troublematic. I may try the 2 tomorrow.
    I'll look into those as well, thanks.
    Two weeks in bed, wow you were really bad off.

    Daily OJ drinker here. I love the stuff, pulp is where it's at. I usually take a Vitamin C in the morning along with a glass of orange juice. Today I took an extra Vitamin C pill at work.

    Thanks for your input. I love orange juice. Great stuff.

    Try using Nasopure. I know, sounds disgusting...hell, I had to be practically on my death bed before I would give it a try. BUT, now I'm a hardcore convert. Love the stuff and while YMMV it works like a mo fo for me.

    I was also going to mention Mucinex, works wonderfully. I have asthma, but its very minor, just allergies to grass, so I take Mucinex before, and I'm fine after. It works for colds also. I use Nasonex for nasal spray, but thats not OTC.

    I use to have a prescription for nasal spray, similar to Nasonex. I actually love the prescription stuff, it works quickly and very effectively.

    I made due with what I could find at Kroger, but I bought the Allergy aisle out. MucinexDM, Afrin, Cough Drops, Fish Oil (not for sinus' though), and more packets of Sinus Cleanse.
