Great news - John Force is expected to leave Baylor Hospital in Dallas on Friday to go back home to southern CA for recovery from the crash in Ennis on Sunday. We were there at the Motorplex on Saturday and Sunday for the O'Riley Fall Nationals and witnessed some of the best competition on two and four wheels. The crash between John and Kenny Bernstein on Sunday was a nasty one which occurred at the end of the run. John's funny car split in half sending the engine forward sailing down the opposite side of the track into the catch area. John had a fractured left ankle, deep cut on the right knee, dislocated wrist that was temporarily pinned, abrasions to hands and fingers. He has a cast on his left foot and his right leg is bandaged from below the knee up his thigh. His left hand and wrist are in a cast, and the fingers on his right hand are heavily swollen. He was up using a walker 12 hours after 4 hours of surgery. Absolutely incredible . . .he wants to race in the upcoming Richmond event!

Whether you are a fan of his or not, you can't dispute his racing motto:

    Never Give UP
    Never Back Down
    Never Lose Faith

Ashley was to run against one of the Pendregons but withdrew from the race after her dad's incident. It would have been great to have them run against each other. There's always another day. Incidently, Ashley was recently voted "Hottest Athlete in Sports" - (too bad Danica!).

OT - by far the best match of the entire weekend was the final Pro Bike race with Peggy Llewelyn against Andrew Hines. GO Peggy ! !

Wouldn't it be great if the current F1 guys had just 10% of John's outgoing personality ?

Even when he was not in the top 10 in points he was the same guy....

Drag racing is unappreciated on these boards, for the most part.

That's unfortunate as it is really an exciting sport. I have been drag racing for years now and, while it is very different from my road racing, it is an entirely separate form of excitement. Until you have gone 0-100 in less than 2 seconds, you don't know what accelaration is.

Furthermore, drag racing is perhaps the only form of motorsport where women not only are substantially represented, they are among the top drivers int eh sport. Angelle Sampay, the best female racer on the planet, is among the all-time best in her category and only one win away from being the winngest Pro Stock Motorcyle driver, man or woman. I'd like to see Danica try to say that...
