Other than tan / natural / black, what interior colours go well with a red exterior?

Red is such a bright color that it needs a neutral color interior. Other than what you already mentioned, gray is the only other color I can think of that would go well with Red. Navy blue might work, but it would need to be dark, almost black.

I have seen triple red (exterior, carpet, and seats) on Corvettes before, and it just looked too bright to me.

Is natural = crema? If I remember correctly (I buy lightly used so rarely pick out the colors), BMW and Porsche offer a natural brown color that is really nice. It's much deeper than Ferrari's crema, which is an off white, and darker than tan.

Red is a pretty forceful color for a car, though. It does best without a lot of competition from bold interior colors.

If you look at some of the old vintage racers - the '62 330 LM TR for example, they are red with royal blue seats. I made a few photoshops of a 550 Barchetta and a 360 Spider in rossa corsa with bright blue seats to match the old racecars... the people who responded weren't keen (although voluntary respondents are predisposed to give negative/critical opinions), but I still think it could be pulled off. I think it would look especially good on the 430, which happens to borrow it's front intake shape from the 330 Testa Rossa.

Don't forget you can order different colored inserts on the Daytona seats - you could get black seats with red inserts and piping, or even crema with red inserts would look nice.

    Here is the 330LM TR:

Natural is close to what Ferrari used to call "Tobacco". It's in the tan/brown/beige family.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Bandit and Bostonmini, do you mean light or dark grey? I don't think I've ever seen grey in a red car. Could be interesting.

ryalex, was blue the colour of the seats because that was the only colour the seat manufacturer used, or did Ferrari spec them in blue?

I think it depends on the car, too. For example, I never cared for the various lighter colored interiors in the 360 because they clashed with all of the aluminum colored aluminum trim bits. It would have to be a black or navy interior on a 360 for me.

It's purely subjective, and there are some very nicely done high-end grey interiors, but...

IMO, grey doesn't look as rich as the other options Hoyt mentioned. Maybe my hang-up with grey is that it's rare on really classic cars and one of the most common colors for modern economy cars (e.g., Hyundai, Honda). It seems very rare on Ferraris.

I guess it's pointless to argue about color preferences, but I've always made it a point to get black or tan. I did have a red interior once in a silver Mercedes and I loved it - got a lot of compliments on it as well - but silver over red is a classic vintage German sports car color combination.

Actually, the story I heard was that when they made the seats in the factory, they were short on fabric and cut up blue worker's overalls and used the material. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but it makes for a charming story.
