http://www.eurospares.co.uk/breaking2.asp?page=109 Hope whoever was in this got out OK. Looks like the roof got cut off. Anyone's on here? (it's in the UK)
Sad to see that. I find it hard to believe that an accident like this doesn't really get mentioned on F-Chat
It did! A father and son were travelling to the Le Mans classic if i remember rightly and whilst still in the UK they had a head on crash.........The father lost his life, so nobody dwelled on it. I guess you could find it if you looked
Eurospares claims the Dino was a 74, but that article refers to it as a 72. Something to think about if your vying for spare parts off the car from Eurospares.
Originally the Shell of the car was meant to be crushed so i dont know why Eurospares has the whole remains on offer. It certainly is an unpalatable reminder for his wife family and friends that it still exists
yes, they said the shell was to be crushed... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1974-ferrari-dino-bonnet-/110527965612?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19bbfae9ac
i asked Eurospares for the s/n and got the very quick reply: Hi Michael, I would do but when I got the car it was already scrubbed off by the insurance company regards James Pumo Eurospares (Continental Parts) Ltd seems unusual to me!?! is that the usual practice of insurance companies?
Beware of the prices being asked for parts too...I inquired about the trunk hinges and was quoted 275 british pounds...EACH!! You can get NEW hinges for 83 BP from Superformance.
I`ll never do business with Eurospares, as they publish such a car. The least they could do, was to scrap it, put the stuff on their shells, and then publish the spares. But i´m not in it for the money...
I am fairly confident that the car was sold by Island Salvge for somewhere between £20 and £25K to Eurospares (whom we all know are greedy b*stards) And they are obviously trying to double there money. I personaly would not want parts from this car in mine, it just would not be right.
I've inquired about the ignition module/coil/mounting plate and was quoted £1950, which is about two times the market value. And i agree to nerodino, that history is as bad as it can get (but then again i wanted the parts for my archive).
I felt quite sad looking at those pictures. The father and son must have been so happy to be on that trip in that car. That the trip became so tragic pains me. Same color as my car too.
Hi, these pictures I took in 2009 in Angouleme, not even that far from Le Mans. I know the driver was a young guy, but not sure if this is the car? Anyhow, very sad story, very sad!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
At the end of the day, it is sad that this car is no longer with us. But, any parts that could keep other Dino's on the road and running, make the ad worth running. I don't think Eurospares has any intention of disrespecting a family or person. I have never bought anything from them (frankly, their site is too complicated to mess with), but at least they are trying to keep from destroying what is left and selling off much needed parts.
