What a gorgeous shape that car has! I like seeing the tranny all exposed and mechanically vulnerable, with the wires all dangling and....

Sorry about that, the person who wrote that comment has been sacked. And now the news for wombats. There were no wombats involved in a 2 car accident today in Wostershire.

    Ahhh, shades of Monty Python..

Again, what a beautiful car, thanks for sharing. Have you noticed any particular improvement in drivability or was the restoration mostly focused on the body and interior?

    regards

    Ken

The registration plates look like they are English, was the car imported from the UK?

The overhead shot and the garage shot shows a magnificant color choice for the Lusso. Are these pictures before or after restoration? Thanks.

The right color makes all the difference for any car. Doesn't it?

Incidentally, it scares me to see your dash wires dangling without any labeling. Here's my solution.

Looks like a nice body. Best of luck with the project. It will all be worth it in the end. Watch out for those little flying rocks.....

oh boy, things get crazy in the Vardanian garage when John gets bored . . .

are those dry-cleaning bags you use to segregate different groups of wires?

Many years ago when my son was a little boy and had a paper route, we would put the papers in these bags on rainy days. Well, I hung on to these bags and still use them, as you can see.

You've probably seen me post before. I had Lusso #4539 for thirty years. Sold her five years ago in favor of much later models. I miss her. But, I am too old now to do her justice. So very nice to see this. God bless!

We bought the car from Paul Baber out of England so yes the car did get imported on a 747 over to the US. The interior of the car was all original and the seats had been redyed multiple times. The paint looked as though it had been resprayed some time ago and was also splotchy and tired. All of those photos are pre-restoration. The previous owner did considerable work to the mechanicals of the car including the engine, engine compartment, suspension and drive train. We drove the car for about 6 months before finally dismantling it to prepare for paint, chrome, and interior and it was extremely tight and amazing to drive. I'll post more pictures as the paint progresses, it should be painted and ready for interior and assembly in 4-6 weeks. The body and paint work is being performed by Steve Beckman, and he is doing an absolutely fantastic job. I can't remember the upholsters name, but Brooke Betz is doing all of the organization, disassembly and reassembly and we couldn't be happier he is an amazing asset to the Ferrari community.

I Thank You and truly appreciate your posting of the pictures of your Families Lusso. By doing so, you bring all of us, who will never have the chance to own and drive a fine Vintage Ferrari, like the Lusso, into the experiences of driving and restoring it. This is what makes Fchat, unique and special, for me.

I will be looking forward to the upcoming posts as you progress, in the restoration. I think it brings us all a little closer as Ferraristi. :)

    Ciao...Paolo

Yes it will be repainted in almost the same color as it was, although the true original Ferrari color was just slightly different than what our car was. Here are some more pictures but besides these most of my picture are repetitive. In one of the pictures of the door you will see the optional power windows motor.

great picures, thanks for sharing. Very interesting looking exhaust (pictured above); I'll bet that made quite the sound! Has anyone here who has not gone stainless drilled a little hole at that low point in the exhaust to help prevent rot?
