I had a great day yesterday! After 7 months in winter storage, I finally found the time to retrieve my '77 308 and bring her home. I was expecting a few problems here and there even though I took a few precautions before "resting" her for a few months. Much to my surprise, she started first time, and she was flawless on the drive home. I hadn't even charged the battery (although it was disconnected of course). Anyway, I guess this is testament to the fact these old babies are more solid than we sometimes give them credit for. I'm happy, and it's great to have my 308 out of storage after such a long time. I'd forgotten what a gorgeous car it is.
My carby 308 spent 3 months in a container being shipped from the uk via the tropics of the middle east, India, Singapore and finally arrived into an Australian winter, and it started on the first try like it had been driven yesterday. None of the shipping guys could believe it when l just got in the car and drove away!
They just started my #22127 after storing it out outside two years with the carbs off the manifold.. They said it sounded "tired"..... I said..."Well, the rings are reseating, thru all the rust, give it a day or two....."
