Beautiful car! Great to drive, right? Another ownership tip.... You can find on Ebay or if you have a part supplier...keep in your trunk a spare electric radiator fan motor and a spare fuel pump.
2 items that are vital to have if they happen to fail on a road trip. They're easy replace (the fuel pump on your car is probably behind the right side panel in the truck.)

Oh yeah.. right. I also carry a spare coil, set of belts and hoses. I find it's like the opposite of Murphy's law.... as long as you have the spares on hand, the items on the car never fail.
Change the spark plugs every year and she'll be happy.

Thanks, I will set about obtaining these spares. Good to know. I am having the interior redone as the previous owner restored everything but that. Will post some pictures when its done. Here it is now...

    Fixed it

When I was a kid my dad had three Jags and all we did was tune those SU's, then he purchased an Allard J2X and all we did was hold on! Then my sister came along and we got a station wagon :-(

I had my 3 SUs rebuilt 18 years ago and haven't had to do anything but maintain the oil level since. The webers may provide more performance and a throaty sound, but other than that, the SU's are very reliable once they're set properly. I've found the same with Lucas electrics that commonly get bashed. My volatage regulator was also set around the same time, 18 years ago, and I haven't had one electrical issue since then, other than having to replace the coil once.

One other thing to consider, Webers have a "flat spot" on an E-Type. For some reason you can't tune it out. It happens somewhere around 2800 to 3000 RPM and will drive you nuts. I've owned a total of 19 E-Types and tried the Weber thing twice. I agree the S.U.s are the only way to fly on a street car. Race cars, a totally different story. Webers only. Under normal race conditions you never really run at revs below 3000+. They work well in this application.
