Will be keeping my 2019 Portofino outside for a few months this spring/summer.

Any recommendations for a solid, weatherproof outdoor car cover?

    Don’t do it!!!

you will cause £1000’s of damage to the paintwork
Either leave it in a shady place or wrap it

    cheers

So don’t park it outside at all unless it’s shaded well? I don’t have a garage at this house (it’s garage rest of the year at our main home) so my option is to either park it uncovered or park it covered. It gets a decent amount of sun where it is..

    Thoughts?

    What colour is your car?
Lighter shades fair better than dark in uv light fading
Red is by far the worst and can look washed out within 12 months of being left in constant sunlight.
A 3m clear wrap offers uv protection, putting a cover over the car outside is a really bad idea, the wind causes the fabric to rub against the bodywork, it only takes 1piece of grit to be blown in and if left unchecked could rub the paint off completely exposing the Aluminium body in very short order.

I’m talking from experience here I left a vehicle at my holiday home in Portugal for 3 months with a cover on because the sun in the summertime is intense.
Wow when I took the cover off I couldn’t have caused any more damage if I had deliberately taken a piece of glass paper to the body and glass and liberally sanded everything

    cheers

    Sean,

Is something like this a possible option?
    https://www.shelterlogic.com/

I've used one of these, and it is reasonably easy to put up, and has proven durable.

Wind is what causes abrasion of paint under the cover. Some covers are softer than others and will, thus, cause less damage. However, those covers will typically not protect very well against moisture.

You might want to consider 2 covers- one soft for paint protection and another on top for moisture protection given your delima. Some manufacturers claim to protect for both purposes and do a fair job. In general, the more you pay, the better the cover- the old "you get what you pay for" adage. Also, a better fitted car cover would rub less but cost more. Do your research.

I am pretty sure the manual states: "leaving a new Ferrari outdoors voids the warranty" :)
Don.t do it but if you insist I would look at a 3M type cover which is heavy but also will breathe to avoid moisture build up.
Enjoy the ride and Stay Safe!

Nice. I will add to my post if you use an option like this, spend a few extra $$ and have a professional install the framing, making sure that the posts are well anchored into the ground, concrete, etc. Good peace of mind if you live in a place that is susceptible to wind storms and string thunderstorms like Texas...T

I was recommending the most expensive car cover from that company. The canopy is from Costco;the frame is excellent, but the covering was junk. I had a covering for it made by a local awning company. The problem with sides (including back and front) is that they catch the wind like a sail and exert big forces on the canopy.

ShelterLogic All-Steel Metal Frame Instant Garage and AutoShelter with Waterproof... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OFNK8O/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_RwnGEbXGHEB3N

This is the frame. It's 10x20. I have the normal weight cover, the first of which lasted - if I had to guess - about five years. I installed a new cover last year. Two hour job, but I did it by myself. Next time, I'm going to invite a few friends over for beer and bbq, and install the heavy duty cover. It's a great option for when we need overflow parking space for one the cars. Additionally, since I live in a historic district, the Shelter Logic is technically a temporary structure and so the old ladies on the commission can cluck their tongues and suck on it!

Edit - I've found Shelter Logic customer service to be quite excellent.

If wind is an issue where you live,I recommend a canopy with sides that can be removed or rolled up.

I would suggest some kind of "garage tent". https://www.demon-tweeks.com/dk/hamilton-semi-pro-shade-marquee-243716/
Car covers absolutely ruin your paint - do not do it. If you don't like the tent idea, just park it outside and wash it occasionally.
It's a car, and remember that many use their Portos and Lussos as dailies, which mean they sit out all year sometimes.

I used a custom fit CoverKing Silverguard on my last 911 after years of disappointment with the heavier, bulkier Evolution 3 covers which I felt put my cars in a 3 day steam bath after every substantial rain. The Silverguard is very lightweight and reflective, moisture got through but evaporated quickly, super light material meant less friction. Paint was perfect after 2 years as my weekend car, covered otherwise. Getting the same type cover for my Cali T, Reflectect from Covercraft.

Not sure where you are located, but if in the UK this might be the one for you. I keep my Porto under a cover made by Specialised Covers. It costs about £400, is custom made to fit the Porto, and is triple layer (the inside being a soft / fleecy texture). It comes down to within an inch or so of the ground and has straps to secure it underneath so no rubbing. I thoroughly recommend it if you don’t have a garage.
