Looks better than the previous models, besides that front grill. Performance seems strong. I put my name on the list, though my dealer doesn't even have a hard date on allocations/builds ect.

I currently have a 991 Turbo, which is the single best all around car with super car performance I've ever experienced, yet highly overlooked, which is good. Funny to me, that with my two kids seats in the back, it will blow the doors off just about any ferrari, besides the the laF and the 488, hell it even beat the F speciale on the EVO leader board. Sad, considering, its a GT/all purpose car, out performing "track" focused ferrari's. I have winter tires on it now and drive it year round, snow ect. I'll be interested if the new R8 can match it, though I have my doubts but will stay open. I do of course love the sound of the V10, which obviously sounds much better than the TT. It's shocking to see its 0-60 and 1/4 stats, matching or even beating the 991 Turbo, that gains serious respect in my eyes. Though when I go on the AUdi site it shows 0-60 in 3.3 which is slower than the turbo but I believe I saw a magazine review, showing it at 2.6 or something crazy!

    I'm 38, am I too young for the R8 ;)

    I do miss my 991 GT3...

Disappointed to see the R8 get trounced like this from a dig, I thought it was supposed to be faster from 0-60 than the 991 turbo and match the its 1/4, what am I missing ?

You aren't missing anything, ppl just don't realize how fast the 991 turbo is especially in colder weather. its intercoolers can cut the power in hotter weather but anything under 70 degrees F it's good for 10.6 quarter miles.

I own a 991 turbo, so yes I understand how shockingly fast it is, I've actually never driver a faster car from the dig. It's freaking warp speed fast and in any gear at any time! I just thought the new r8 was supposed to match or beat it? Motortrend posted some ridiculous numbers on the r8, something like zero to 60 in 2.6, seems like BS, if we are to take this vid as a valid source. I guess, time will tell, regardless my name is on the list for the new R8, still on the fence if I could get rid of my turbo for it, or try and swing both

It looked quite cold in that video though, which benefits the 911. Plus motor trend gives a one or two foot rollout (can't remember) which neutralizes the 911's punch out of the hole from a time recording perspective only. But having launched a 991 TTS, the only things I could see consistently beating it from dig to 60 are a 918 and a Veyron SS.

0-60 its VERY hard to beat Porsche's torque and weight bias.
The old drag racer saying; HP sells cars. Torque wins races.

As a performance car its hard to beat Porsche TT.
As a car I'd consider owning the Audi wins on several levels.
And I have a Porsche now in a GT2. Totally different experience.

Not just the 0-60, it's 1/4 mile is incredible mid 10's.

I've actually never been a fan of the r8, until this latest 2017 version to be coming out this year in the U.S. So much, that I'm seriously considering buying one, with my name #3 on my dealers list and I for sure will get one if I want. What I like so far is the v10, the sound, the looks besides the front grill, the interior looks much less cheap/tacky compared to the previous r8.

How in you opinion, does the Audi win on several levels?
