Any secret techniques to remove an over-tightened oil filler cap? I must have tightened it more than usual and now I can't get it to turn.

    Thanks,

Try something like an oil filter wrench with padding underneath but first let the engine heat up a bit and you will probably be able to turn it by hand.

Agreed. Sometimes, they are hard to untighten. Good luck.

They can be tricky to get off.
Its good to hear its not just me, and I only just tighten it up. I thought it was cross threaded it was so tight, but it came off after a fight. It still seems to go tight on its own. They do like a little drink of the 20/50 quite often as well (at least mine does).

In cars with two filler caps I recommend to periodically unscrew also the cap the you do not usually use to refill and to oil the threads. After a long period it could seize and become impossible to open without damages.

David, a warm engine did the trick! I would have thought heat would cause metals to expand thus tightening the cap further. But the opposite effect occurred. I removed the cap awhile ago but have been too busy to post. Thank you very much.
