Overheating 360 and solution

A note on my recent overheating experience on a 360. So I have been noticing overheating when stuck at lights, being not mobile etc to near red line. A couple of time I have shut off the engine to prevent further combustion induced heating.

So wow problem...

On reviewing Ferrarichat threads I realised I hadn't heard the radiator fans coming on. As a note the RH radiator was replaced late last year after accident damage which kept the car off the road for 6 months. Don't worry damage was relatively light, non structural but just tough to source some of the parts. Anyway I am unsure if the fans have operated since but the overheating has only become noticeable recently. I suspect that this was due to a pipe clamp becoming a little loose and at running temp/pressure allowing coolant to leak to a point the coolant was low enough to exacerbate the heating issue.

Solution, took into my servicer with the suggestion the temperature switch controlling the fans was kaput. He replaced this then found the secondary speed was not engaging. Further solution replace thermostat. Re fill and bleed system. At this point I went down to look at car. I watched the engine operate up to speed and then saw that fluid was leaking from somewhere onto the belts and leaking at a good dripping pace. Had the fire wall access panel off to to this. This was only after getting the engine up to operating temp, at cold and lower pressure no leaking.

Identified a clamp loose and tightened. Thanks to my servicer for a good job done and rectifying a potential serious problem with relative ease.

 

Exactly a real tricky diagnosis, anyone with a 360 should get these clamps checked when you get a service
