It was 104 deg. F here yesterday and driving my 84 308 around town
(stop and go) for about 45 min. and my temp guage went up close to
200 deg with rad fans working normally. Is this normal for hot day like this or should I bleed the system? Thanks for any input.

My ’83 QV Owner’s Manual says “max permitted [water] temperature is 230 – 240 degrees F”. It also says “It is necessary to reduce immediately the engine R.P.M. in case the [oil] temperature exceeds 284 degrees F”. I’m sure many would say these are much too high, but this is what the manual says. Personally I’ve not seen the water temperature over 210.

That is quite good on such a hot day...212f would be fine with an 104f outside temp...especially in traffic...

Last Sunday IN Livermore Ca. it was 115 deg F. my temp guage went up to between 205-210 deg. but no more than that. So again I guess this is normal for such hot day?
