6'2" standing but only 3'11" sitting. It looks like at least 16/18" above the guy's head.

Check the clearance on the T-6 and P-51.

It just seems out of proportion to the rest of the plane.

No hot seats on the 28. Thats a Navy varriant with the twin row 1600 hp engine. The canopy size on the A model were much higher. The pix is a D model with big momo and 3 blade Ham Std prop. A great ball bearing easy to fly airplane. Had some time in the front seat of John Harrisons back when I was a lo time 51 pilot. 28 was much easier to fly and to land.. Like sitting in an easy chair. Very comfy and what a view. Was meant to be a trainer for the F-86 and cockpits were set up pretty much alike. The large yellow handle on the Saber gives it away. Hot seat.

I think the tallness of the canopy is applified by the earlier T-28's with the single row engine. Just looked out of proportion.

I'm only 5'-10" tall and the T-6 canopy is very close to the top of my head. If I had a brain bucket on I believe that I would hit the glass. They said that I didn't have to wear one of them hardhats 'cause there wasn't anything to protect.

Lower the seat Bob. Canopy glass is expensive.

Sparky, if I lowered the seat I couldn't see over the sill and nobody could see me when I was waving back at them when I was flying by. Of course, I could do it inverted but then my head would be banging on the canopy. I would wave anyway, though.
