In looking for an original owners manual for my Dino, I keep coming across ones that state "FROM CAR N. 01118". This is true for hardcopy and well as electronic copies I've stumbled across (on eBay, various parts sites). I bought a DVD of manuals for $11, yet I've seen hardcopy versions for over $300!

But I think I was fooled into thinking that all these copies were from the specific Dino whose S/N is 01118, which would mean my Dino (S/N 01712) would have its own unique manual. But now I suspect that what's special about S/N 01118 is that it was the start of the Series M Dino's, so all Series M cars would have that same exact manual.

Please confirm how naive I was and that my revelation is correct. And I don't mind if you get a good laugh out of this.

It means starting with car #01118

More than one person has been fooled into thinking they bought the manual for THAT specific car.

From 1118, as in taken from 1118? The owner of 1118 must be feeling pretty good

I figured some smart person is making a ton of money selling official looking reprints of his Owners Guide!

The serial number only updates the changes that have taken place during the production cycle. It must be noted, even if you had 1118, this manual wouldn't have come with the car in question. The printing dates are far later than the production date of these specific Dino's.

My 71 Dino does have this manual (01118), as well as the Parts Catalogue, but they're pretty beat up. My reason for searching for replacements was to have a `clean' set of what I could find.

Clean sets aren't common but aren't rare. Ebay is the best source as long as you are patient

This owner manual as well as the spare parts catalogue for the M-Series have the blue cover and are valid for all chassis no. between 1118 and 2130. (#2130 = last M-Dino 246 and owned by me between 1989 and 1994). Next to having a perfect pair in the pouch the work with the content is recommended in the copies or pdf files. I was surprised that every Dino Owner is allowed now to dowload both on the Owners side rfor free!
