    Definitely. :D
But nonetheless, when I get into my Challenge Stradale it's a whole other level of emotion. Even a 458 can't even remotely keep up...

For me, emotion is much more important than the last tenth of performance.
But of course, some people may see it differently. :)

i don’t think we all want harmless looking cars. i agree the 488 is more aggressive looking.

I prefer the looks inside and out for many reasons of the 488. I drove 458 and 488 before I bought and it was a quick decision on the 488. I loved mine and now enjoying the F8. Now I don’t hate the 458 and if I was looking to spend under or around 200k I’d get a 458.

not awesome but definitely WAYYY better than a 458. Looks like Lotus stole this design for the Emira.

If you don’t understand what an NA engine does to the soul and you don’t know what turbo lag really is, then you will buy the 488, then sell it in a year or two like all the other 488 owners. It’s not worth their money and nobody really loves the car but yet it is great, maybe the greatest.

with respect, do you really think there is anyone here who has never driven a naturally aspirated car? further, all naturally aspirated cars are not equally magical.

also, all turbo cars do not have equivalent lag.

i am not knocking naturally aspirated engines the c8 Z06 is a crowning achievement, for example. the GMA cosworth v12, of course the ferrari 12s.

various lamb porcini engines are also naturally aspirated gems.

but turbos don’t suck and i don’t see people selling their F40s or 288 GTOs after 2 years …

    torque is real

I've had many NA engine cars.....I know what 9k red line is etc....I put 9500 miles on my 488 including some track laps....never experienced turbo lag in the 488 or my current F8...never feel it or think about it anymore. Plus it is not only me as these cars have been reviewed many times and turbo lag is not part of the story.

Is this your personal experience or is this an opinion ? As my personal experience owning both for approximately 3 years each was very different.

Turbo lag is definitely there, but it is managed very well in modern exotics….not like a scary Porsche Turbo from the 70s

Torque is a big deal for a lot of people, and a lack of it is why I have never liked the way the Ferrari V8s drove (from 355-458).

Tracking out putting power down after the apex and I noticed no lag, instant response. Driving around on the street, downshift and squeeze on the power …same no lag instant response. Speaking of Porsches I come from GT3’s. :D;)

    way way less lag than a 570s or 600lt, or a 991.2 C4S.

    from experience.

i haven’t driven a 992 tts, but id be willing to bet the variable geometry turbos help a bunch vs the carrera s

No doubt fit and finish has to be better in the 488 compared to the 458. When I went from the F430 Spider to the 458, fit and finish was the first thing I noticed. Lots of 458 owners don't talk about it, but the fit and finish is not up to its performance. The F430's fit and finish was far superior to the 458 as is the fit and finish on the 488. Everything is better in the 488......on paper. I would buy a 488 if it fit into my longer term financial goals, but I sure would miss the NA engine and sound of the 458. Looks are subjective, but I happen to think the 458 looks better. But from a fit and finish and performance perspective, the 488 is simply a better car. The 296 is even better than the 488, but I wouldn't trade my 458 for it. I think the 296 is ugly, despite it's performance dominance. The test for me is "do I look back at the car as I'm walking away from it?" With the 296, I wouldn't but with a 488, I would because it is nearly identical to the 458, except not quite as sexy in my opinion.

Bottom line is all 3 of these cars have more power than you'll ever need on the street. You just need to find the one that is right for you and that is totally subjective.

does anyone have a sense of why ferrari forsakes the variable geo turbos ? yes they cost more, but i cannot believe that ferrari is worried about msrp being $5k higher in exchange for even less lag.

have they ever spoken on this?

i haven’t seen anyone but porsche implement, and only on 911 Turbo & cayman GTS (2.5L single turbo variant)
