I am seeking information, please, on the ramifications of owning an Enzo. For example, I understand that some parts are already impossible to obtain - surely this cannot be the case?

    Thank you.

Dear Joe Sackey Purveyor of Horseless Carriages to the Nobility and Gentry since Nineteen Hundred and Seventy Eight,

I recall reading somewhere, and it may well have been on this illustrious Forum that some parts for the Enzo were unavailable from Ferrari. My recollections are that it was an electrical/electronic component(s). However, any information provided would be gratefully received.

Please pass my warmest regards to Mrs. Sackey, please.

I distinctly remember a user by the name 512_TeaAre or something of that wording that wrote with a striking resemblance to yourself... If I remember that person had an F40 also.

If I have put two and two together, and got 4, then I would say you must personally experience ownership of an Enzo, then YOU must grace us with appropriate words to describe the experience, because I do not have the literacy or intellect to do so.

    Dear Comrade Michael James,

I am but an ethereal Will o' the Wisp dancing fugaciously through cyber space. And yes, a metachrosis has taken place. I became A Singer Without a Banned. I am now within the employ of Mr Rob Lay who has implored me to take a position at the very apotheosis of the financial hierarchy of Ferrarichat.com. My salary is brobdingnagian. Hence I may now acquire an Enzo. But, the good comrades upon the Forum have yet to provide the information that I have requested: Are these motor cars reliable and are the spare parts available from Ferrari? My understranding is that some electrical/electronic componentry is not available from the factory. Is this a fact? Does anyone know the truth?

    All good wishes.

    With kind regards,

    A Singer without a banned

    Dear Comrade amenasce,

Yes. But I do need to know if Ferrari are still making the parts for it as I do not wish for my wife to suffer the indignity of a breakdown when she takes it to the supermarket for the weekly shopping expedition. And this is partly the reason why we need an automatic Ferrari with power steering. The F-40 is great but it has a manual gearbox and no power steering. Furthermore, the only place to store the groceries is within the front compartment and regretfully the radiator and cooling fans are immediately in front of the storage area. Not surprisingly the butter melts and all the frozen items are thawed by the time my wife arrives home.

    All good wishes.

    With warm regards from England,

    A Singer without a Banned :)

Well A Singer without a Banned,

I think you may find vehicle manafacturers are required, by law, to supply replacment parts for vehicles up to ten years old, after this they may or may not begin to discontinue parts, time there is the proof.

With regards to reliability, of all the Ferrari's I have had the pleasure to own, the Enzo is the most reliable, this I suspect is due to the lack of (forgive my fluent french) **** fitted.

What you may find is Ferrari will try to fob you off with a high priced, complete item, as offosed to repair of damaged item, for example the famous £11,000 nose lift system, when infact all is required in most cases is a £100 ECU and a £3 mosfet, a bit of labour and a dealer who will go out of their way to make a repair.

I say, if funds allow, buy one, it is for me the finest car on the planet!!!

    Best

Dear A Singer without a banned:

Indeed the Enzo (and the F50 to some extent) are Ferrari Supercars born into the era of electronic techno-wizardry. Therefore, not only is there an issue of supply, but the various electronic components have 'upgraded replacements' which are necessary to make the car reliable (read: expensive to maintain). Then too certain items will have an expiry date and a shelf life that cannot be compared to that of a mechanical component. All of these issues will make reliability in a few decades to be similar to the chances of the AA man responding within 15 minutes on a Bank Holiday! In 20 years time I can imagine that lovely dealer of yours on that beautiful high street of your little village declaring: "Ah yes, your Lordship, we haven't seen those parts in... well, 20 years!"

Having said all that, I think you only live once and you should get an Enzo.
