We're moving right along getting ready for FQC. Fly cut wheels so they need less balancing weight. Note tool we made so we can chuck wheels onto a huge lathe. Built bases for the P seats a friend gave us so we'll have somewhere to sit when we move in the big screen to watch GP's. Aired out The Stutz. Built a welding table. Built HD chassis stands for the Lola who isn't as sevelt as her sisters. Built a set of muffled street exhausts for 002C. NYT's comes by next weekend for a chat and then we load for New Orleans.

    Hey
300 SL is a friends. 1931 Stutz DV32 is mine. Cool car. Two speed rear end.
4 speed. Straight 8. 4 Overhead Cams. 32 Valves. Best operated while wearing a racoon coat, carrying a hip flask, and sitting next to a flapper. Machine gun compartment in rear.

PS. Yes that is the proper way to store them for any length of time.

Jim, what do you think of the Cadillac V16 Phaeton? i've always had a soft spot for the car and am wondering how it compares to others of the same era.
    I'd love one (or a 30s Packard)

love love LOVE the Stutz! wow! what a car, can you imagine driving THAT all day, everywhere, to do mundane daily tasks ( kids to school, go to work, grocery store ect) not that folks with THAT kind of money back then did that all the time. but what a car for its day!!

I believe that Caddy had 165hp while this engine and the Deusy had 225 and 300ft/lbs of torque. That said they are wonderful as well.

Why don't you just grind up all the BS that has been said about the P3/4, put it into a magic pot, and create some kind of cloning spell for Halloween? I'd be VERY happy with a clone! :)

PS: You need a pre-war Alfa in your garage...and no, it doesn't have to be the $12 million ex-Ralph Lauren 8c2900B MM ! (OK, I don't know for sure what he paid for the ex-Serri car, but I heard it was over $10 million!)

I have a request disguised as a complaint disguised as a hint...

I've yet to see a pic of your Lola in full glory. Instead, it's always teasing us with come-hither shots.

A shot from the passenger seat at full flight into a corner ... with all the blurrs and bumps that come from such speed ... would be awesome ;)

I read in the latest Motorsport magazine about this guy in a little Lotus 26R racing at the historic Le Mans ... his favourite image from racing in the night was the GT40's thundering past him, flames belching out the back and leaving behind a huge wake of unburnt fuel ... just awesome mental imagery ;) ... that is the sort of photo I'm greedily and selfishly after ;)

It's funny you say that. Last year I took my MK-IV to Pebble. As part of it I drove on the tour. The tour winds along the 17 mile drive up to Luguna and back down to Carmel. By the time we got down to the flats I probably was running on about 2 cyl. as the motorcycle cops leading us were going too slow. With those two big four barrels pumping I bet I had a gallon of unburnt gas in the pipes. Suddenly the road became a two lane and the right one opened up as everyone was following each other in the left. I pulled into the right lane and put her in neutral. Some guy in a pristine Jag pulled behind me. I stuck my arm out of the slider and tried to wave him to stay back. He glued himself to my tail. I could hear the words forming in his head: "That GT 40 was a dog. I could stay right up with it." Some guys you can't save from themselves. I slowly brought the revs up. The engine burped and fumbled but that super hot MSD spark was starting to work it's magic. I felt the plugs begin to clear. When I got about 4K I grabbed first and released the clutch.
The tires lit, the exhaust heated way up and the revs climbed. The tires began to bite. All I could see in the rear mirror was a wall of flame as that gallon of gas exploded out of the twin three inch pipes. I did pull away from the Jag like he was standing still, remember even 36 years later she does reach 100 in 8 seconds, but alas I fear it may have not have been quick enough to keep the nose of that Jag waxed, buffed, and with as much paint as it began the tour with.
