The screen on the left is new, correct? I don't recall seeing it last year. Are you going to retain the onboard jacks?
A street-legal car with kers and all the toys of racing, what a very cool proposition. Enjoy the testing! Best, Jack.
Is KERS staying in or being pulled out of the car for the new Stradale version? Target weight for the Stradale version? CH
Build it and then they come! Love all the sponsor stickers! The car looks really impressive. Beautiful carbon fiber. Esquisite complex forms machined parts. Complicated electronics. This car has become truly an amazing triumph of design and aesthetics.
Hopefully you'll have it done in time to drive it around Monterey when you display it at Quail in Aug. Can't wait to see it there.
Just spoke with Paolo. Car is really something. Rear with road tires/Race TC/Race ABS and massive downforce can not be unstuck. Very mild understeer when she starts to let go which is perfect and makes her very safe. Brakes are very good. Gearbox fantastic. No clutch needed on upshifts. Launching is fine but takes finesse. A lot of mechanical noise but not too loud in cockpit. Engine tune fine but won't sit forever in traffic. AC Great. Blue tooth i phone works as does mini ipad gps. KERS is set for 5 second bursts and can recharge in normal driving with reasonable braking. KERS can really be felt in lower gears and accelerated car from 100 KPH to 115 KPH with same throttle setting almost instantly. Totally stable to 200 KPH+ (VMAX is geared to about 285KPH) Suspension over bumps is great and lifters (F/R) work really well. Next week I'll test her and we'll also run her to VMAX.
And the Italians call that 'low speed testing'. Great that she performs well on the road on her first outing. Mechanical noise is good, lots of it is a symphony. From the Nordschleife to Manhattan, quite the journey! Best, Jack.
We may race up Pikes Peak in 2014 and if a 918/P1/or La Ferrari show up to race we'll be back. We are considering making a race version of our next one off which will be smaller/lighter/simpler.
I see but IMO that would be tedious to disassemble the car's systems like a/c, engine, suspension etc to convert it again to racing car and again vice versa... Wouldn't be? Best
There are a number of things we have to change but we always planned to make the car easily road/race convertible.
