My 550, which I don't drive enough, had MPSS, barely used and 2015 date; my 575, which I drive more, had P Zero Rossos, the same. I have switched tyre brands on cars many times and gauged results, but always this has been in a situation where at least two of the tyres are worn or old.
When you're switching old tyres of Brand A with new tyres of Brand B, it's never a fair comparison. But this was a chance to compare like with like. So I had my dealer swap the Michelins onto the 575 and vice versa. The tyres are exactly the same size, front and rear.
There is, as expected, quite a significant difference. The Michelins feel more forgiving and giving, and it feels as though there are larger contact patches with the road. Ride is, I think, better as well. Altogether a superior experience.
Except...there is something about P Zeros I have noticed over the years. They are harder, more brittle, I think, than the Michelins, in a negative way. But they also have a precision to their feel that the Michelins don't. The steering was just slightly sharper, edgier, with the Pirellis. So the Michelins are better in many areas, but the Pirellis are better in one.
As I say, this is sets of newish tyres with very little wear, on the same car, so it's quite interesting.
