I read in the mag that when Ferrari heard about the P4/5 that they flew in and actually turned off the motor of the helicopter. Usually, apparantly, (they said), - Luca M. just left it running to have a quick word with the design department. Maybe he should have saved some jet fuel a little more often...
Like many others have said..............you couldn't give me an Enzo..............it's butt ugly in more ways than one. What were they thinking ? I'd take a fly yellow P4/5 anyday.............the lines look like they were drawn by someone on a piece of parchment, sitting at an old wooden table in a little Italian cafe lit by candles, and on the table beside the drawing is a half full glass of red wine and an empty bottle........it's one of the most seductive and flowing designs I have ever seen.......truly soul stirring.
have to disagree here. The enzo is a mess visually and I would put it behing the 288GTo, F50 and F40. The P4/5 also does nothing for me, its actually quite concept car futurey looking to me. I mean you cant improve on the original P3 design which is timeless and beautiful.
As much as I like the ENZO I have to say the P3/4 has always been one of my favorites. The new P4/5 is all ENZO beneath with the sexy looks of the P3/4 for an exterior. The best of both worlds. I'd go for the P4/5. Ron
That's a lie and you know it. If the car carrier showed up in front of your trailer and honked you would take the car no questions asked...
Enzo or P4/5?? A tough call.....but for me the beauty and true Ferrari spirit and expression is much more obvious in the P4/5, and therefore she's got my vote! The Enzo is a gorgeous brutal and crisp design which I like a lot, but beautiful??...... nah!!! The proud word "Pininfarina" used to bring up images to my brain of cars like the 250 Testarossa, the 330 P3/4, the Dino 206/246 GT or the 288 GTO, and even the timeless Testarossa of 1984.......nowadays it brings up images of the P4/5!!!
Should that mystical car carrier show up at anyone's place that "couldn't be given" an Enzo - send it to my house. I would be glad to accept one, keep it and cherish the gift. The P4/5, though I appreciate the devotion and passion put into it, leaves me cold. I would take the Enzo for what it is - maybe not aesthetically beautiful - but a truly magnificent, no-nonsense performance car. CC
For me both are great looking cars, but I like the P3 and P4 Ferraris so much that for me the P4/5 is the one I would take, if I could. I hope the P4/5 finds its place on film someday.
If you planning to flip, you'd be better off with the P4/5. In addition to your 288 and F40, you could also buy a couple of F50's and a nice home in LaJolla. I'd take the P4/5.
I like the P4/5 better for looks and it's no doubt a "better" car in pretty much every way. In reality, I'd never want a one off Ferrari though. I'd prefer to be able to talk with others who have the same car I do and share the experience of that model. I'm sure other Enzo owners have a lot in common with Jim's car as far as the experience with the car goes, but then having a one off is truly unique and really not the same. OTOH, if you own a multitude of cars, my point is pretty moot! BTW, I voted for Jim's car in the poll. Ken
Carbon, you're not being very clear. Stop dancing around the bushes man and be direct -- do you like the Enzo or not ? ;-)
Both. They are two very different cars, with very different thought processes to achieve the end result. One is intended to honor Ferrari's F1 achievements, and it has accomplished that goal very well. The other is to honor the days of the most beautiful race car of all time, the P4, in a modern package. And it accomplishes that goal extremely well also. I just do not see how you can compare the two. Like asking me if I could pick between a blond and a red head. I would give you the same answer, both.
I had never seen this P4/5, so I googled it and saw some pictures. Definitely the Enzo. Assuming I couldn't flip the P4/5.
We keep proving how style is so subjective. Some of you hate the Enzo, some of you love it. I guess that is why they started offering more than black for cars 90 years ago. Sorry Carbon, that was before you were born. I am sure if you could go back in time, you would have stopped Henry from making that decision.
A few things to keep in mind. P 4/5 is: lighter faster better balanced aerodynamically has twice the down force is more drivable on the street due to shorter front overhang has improved plumbing and wiring is easier serviced has 4 gb of music world wide gps more comfortable seats more AC more engine cooling greener liquid catalytic converters that leave behind cleaner air than it ingests. on board computer with entire engineering/manufacturing CAD data/construction/and service information. larger and better tires which coupled with it's lower weight and better aero enable it to be driven with less electronic intervention among other improvements when compared to the Enzo...
Onboard tech manuals are especially cool......I'd have to scan all mine and throw the HP laptop in the trunk, to reach that.. Interesting, on cat technology.. Upgrade on piping and wire is ALWAYS a good idea! Forza!
Did not the P4/5 cost about 4.5 million + the donor car? I would certainly expect some practical improvements with that kind of $$ power... My question is - if Ferrari had accepted this design for the Enzo in the first place, would not the result have been equally accepted by the limited market for the worlds greatest Ferrari (at that moment in time)? So, if that were the case, and Jim had hacked apart a P4/5 Enzo and had PF make a Lego Enzo, would we still be having this debate? James - PS - wonder how much it would have had to sell for, if the P4/5 could have been "productionized"?
