Hi Folks, I wonder if anyone here knows what the bracket (shown in David Freidman's photo below from LeMans 1967), is for? There is one on either side of the front clip, suggesting they may have been intended to mount auxiliary spot lamps? However, I have never seen a photo of P4's with aux lamps fitted. The ACO was experimenting with transponders and IBM computer timing. Could be a mount for a transponder. They also had mounts on the side of the tail in sill vents. Does also look like fog lamp mounts that weren't used.
I see three cars of the Scuderia, all these elements. 330 P4 and 330 P3/4 and P4 # 24 but in test # 19, but when tested again yes, when not http://brunodaytona67.canalblog.com/albums/1_ferrari__la_saison_sport_1967__24h_du_mans_/photos/55479043-1967_le_mans_essais_transporteur_330_p_4_klass_sutcliffe_0860_01.html http://brunodaytona67.canalblog.com/albums/1_ferrari__la_saison_sport_1967__24h_du_mans_/photos/55479123-1967_le_mans_essais_330_p_4_klass_sutcliffe_0860_02.html No in April test
Hi, does any have a good pic of the side transponder(?) or similar object on the left side near the rear wheel? Thanks Alessandro
The most entertaining picture in the series is this high tech removal of the engine in 0860. How many mechanics does it take to lift a P4 engine??? tongascrew
Do you mean the silver item shown (although poorly) in this P3 pic? I have never seen this item on a 412P, the P3/4 or P4's though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, yes I mean this item! I had not in mind if was on P3 or P4 or others, just I try to understand best how is made, so I may able to make it for my models. Do you know if the pic is from the race or the tests? Thanks, regards Alessandro
Hi Alessandro, Here are three pics (copyright David Castelhano), showing thitem you are interested in, fitted to P3's at LeMans 1966. I cannot see any evidence of such being fitted to P4's or 412P's. Can't tell if this is from race or practice, but I strongly suspect the item was fitted during both sessions. I hope these are helpful to you. Hi Mark many thanks for the pics..I never see them before! I suppose that may be the race for the ligths covered by the tape... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think it is the Lucas transistorized ignition system that the 330 P3 featured in that place only at the 1966 Le Mans race. You can find similar Lucas on the period Formula ones.
Regarding the first picture of the post, the brackets were the remains of a test the Scuderia performed before Le Mans. They tried additional headlights for the night race and you can still see the electrical wire beside the bracket inside the mouth.
