That looks like a Florida temporary plate.
Wonder if anyone from the Florida section knows what happened.

Exactly what oil lines? What is the check? Loose or what? Is there a recall?
Can we do a visual check by looking at the engine from above?

    very frightening thought!!

For a recent track day event, I had a new halon fire extinguisher mounted in my car.

I decided to leave it in there just in case my F430 decides to start on fire one day.

Supposedly the halon type of extinguisher causes less damage to car components than the dry chemical ones.

I assume these "burn to the ground" car fires start on a small scale and because no one has a fire extinguisher handy, the fire builds until it consumes the entire car (probably in a matter of minutes, but enough time to use a fire extinguisher if you had one).

Thats how a prevention costs $50 can save a car costs $250000 ...

good idea but it's small , you would want a small fire and be able to put it out before you ran out of puff . look at the one that comes with the 997 GT3 clubsport , now THAT'S an extinguisher

WOW!! Hopefully no one was hurt in there. What a shame to see such a gorgeous 430 burn to smitherines. Makes you wonder how these fires come about, especially in NEW Ferraris. Its not like the fuel hoses are old, hard and persished ect.......:(:(

The fuel system is under high pressure so a fuel line crack or fuel tank connector failing could easily cause a massive fire! Think how much fuel is required to be pumped to generate nearly 500bhp!

I put one in my Daytona recently. Have them in the garage and am putting one in 456 today. Now mandatory for the track I'm at tomorrow.

I would definitly put one in a newer car also. Real good idea.

Funny that pics of BBQ'd f-cars are so very common.......yet in the Porsche world it is a rarity indeed.

I love my 911. I use it to go get milk not for excitment :)

Porsche fires maybe a rarity but motor seizures are not. Ask a Boxter owner. The result is the same. INDEED!

FYI, JD Power rated Porsche as #1 for 5 year reliability. Great cars!

More and more we see pictures of Ferrari’s that catch on fire for many reasons, maybe someone should start a thread showing pictures of where it's practical to mount a fire extinguisher..???
