    I took delivery of my Nero 2010 599 about three months ago. Since then I have put just over 1,000 miles on it, all on asphalt and concrete road surfaces. I have been noticing with increasing frequency paint chipping above the Pininfarina logo on both sides of the car. It puzzles me as to the location and the amount. It appears the paint is extremely thin and just below the surface it's white which makes the problem all the more noticable.

    I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, I have several black vehicles and never experienced such a noticeable and significant amount of paint chipping and with so few miles. Thank you in advance for your comments.

    I have a Rosso Corsa 575 Superamerica which is prone to getting stone chips on the front bumper. I have to say that I find that it does stone chip very easily. Much more so than any of the Mercedes I have had. the 575 SA has done 7,000KM in 4 years and my 500SL and current E280 have both done over 20,000Km in 3 years and neither of them have had as many chips on the front. I guess the Ferrari paintjob is hot as hard baked and resilient as Mercedes.

    Must say never had any problem down the side.

    That's typical on the 599s. My 599 has clear bra on the whole lower rocker panel, lower doors, front bumper, hood, pillars and rear valance. The design of the lower rockers on the 599 lets the road debris come off the front wheels of the car directly onto the lower rockers. All my cars have clear bra installed on them, I will not drive around the block in anything without it.

    I appreciate the information. For some reason it makes me feel better to know that this is a weakness in the way they are built as opposed to just my car (I do not know why this matters). Generally I do not buy the clear coverings but obviously I will when I have this fixed and extensively.

    Otherwise....What an awesome machine!

    If you don't clear bra behind the wheel wells you will have a problem. First thing I noticed afte picking up my 599. Get a complete bra package and give yourself some piece of mind.
