Hello, My name is Rick and I am new to the forum. Anybody ever hear of Mario Andretti Red? Reason I ask is that I have a customer who is requesting I paint his Triumph Spitfire this color. Rick- Likely just plain old Ferrari Rosso Corsa, because Mario did win the South African Grand Prix in 1971 in a Ferrari and took a pole at Monza for the team much later. Those cars were painted in Rosso Corsa. Paint code would be PPG 75250 Rosso Corsa B/C.
Could he mean that orangey bright red that his Indy cars were painted when he drove for Andy Granatelli? It was STP sponsored: Not exactly what I think of as a "classic Ferrari red". I would agree with Taz and just show him Rosso Corsa. CC Image Unavailable, Please Login
Curtis- That color was known as STP red and was a sort of fluorescent red. Not sure how that would look on a Spitfire and the Rosso Corsa is probably a better choice. Rick- Show him the reds in this website and see if he likes Rosso Corsa or one of the more orange shades, like Rosso Scuderia, PPG 905389. Mario drove a ton of Ferraris, and in addition to his F1 win, also won Sebring in a Rosso Corsa sports prototype Ferrari 512S, and later in a Rosso Corsa Ferrari 312PB.
