    I have a Rossa Corsa with two tone painting Portofino M on order. Intend to install PPF on front, Rocker panels and A pillar. Do you guys recommend Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating on the entire car after that? I have never done this on any of my other cars so don’t know much about them. Thoughts / advice welcome.

    I highly recommend a paint correction, PPF, and Ceramic coating of the entire car.
    Great protection and super easy to maintain. A Soap and water wash and the car looks pristine.

    My Roma just came in to the dealer and is heading straight to the detail shop.

    What is the sequence of things? How do u paint correct over PPF? And ceramic coating over PPF?

    Paint correction first, Then PPF, then Ceramic coating.
    The ceramic coating goes over the film.

    Yep, before delivery, did PPF on the front and ceramic coating on entire car.

    I have ordered a new Portofino M in Grigio Silversone with Nero roof and am intending using Topaz for front PPF and ceramic straight from the dealer before I take delivery .

    You will definitely want to paint correct the entire car. Fact is that Ferrari paint jobs are among the worst in the industry. And on cars with base paints such as Rosso Corsa, the QC is just not there.

    After that, you can do all the films and coatings. Keep in mind that you need to use a coating specifically for ppf.

    Agree on this. My Rosso cars all needed a fair amount of paint correction mostly for orange peal. My triple layer BFuji 488 spider came perfectly painted but for $31,000 it should have. I think PPF is great and most of the new films are embedded in ceramic already for ease of care. That said, shops will easily sell you a separate coating for an additional 1-2K. LOL

    Guys,

    I have a Portofino M that will be delivered soon.

    I need some advice. I have a shop who will PPF front end (to doors), mirrors, windshield pillars and rocker panels for me. Also planning on having them do ceramic coating over entire car. 10 year warranty on coating. Cost - $4,500 all in.

    i think the cost is reasonable but ask for your collective opinions.

    But now I’m reading in this thread about paint correction issues. Who/what kind a supplier corrects that kind of stuff? $300,000 and a crappy paint job? What gives?

    Bill, I did some research on the subject in anticipation of my PortoM delivery. First no paint correction needed under surfaces you plan to cover with PPF. Imperfections in paint, if any, will be covered by PPF. My PPF guy in Atlanta, GA, considered the #1 go to guy for all exotics in Atlanta area told me this. Second, your PPF (Xpel clear or equivalent) for the areas you are planning to cover is $2,800.00 (including $600 for rocker panels) in Atlanta with this PPF guy. Third, ceramic coating over the entire car, including PPF'd surfaces is between $650 and $750 in Atlanta. In total, all in, it should cost you about $3,500.00. Your $4,500.00 quote seems high: shop around. Paint correction - my PPF guy says there is no need and I believe him. His PPF workmanship is second to none and anyone and everyone in Atlanta, including all exotic car dealers, will vouch for it. I am expecting my GTB anytime now and I only plan to PPF (same areas as you) and ceramic coat thereafter (makes washing easy I am told, that is my primary motivation for ceramic coating).     would highly suggest Stek for PPF. So far it is by far my favourite. Do not use Xpel. Despite its marketing hype you will find that its clarity and hazing is just not up to scratch. Xpel has a very strong orange peel texture to it, especially noticeable on overcast days.

    Bill , I’m right down the road fro you in Sarasota. I had my Portofino color corrected , full car PPF and ceramic coating done here by Joe Carroll for 7500 all in. He also did my F8s for the same price. Wrap the whole car and it’s so much easier to take care of. No micro abrasions no swirls etc.

    I just repainted and and re-filmed the front bumper on my 2011 Grigio Titanio Cali. Looks much better than original. Matching metallic paint on sheet metal and plastic is difficult. In direct sunlight you could easily see that Ferrari didn’t get it right.
