I have an iron gate that was recently installed and it needs a nice coat of paint-I wouild like to use a high quality gloss or semi-gloss black paint and was wondering if there was something out there of higher quality than the rustoleum stuff...thanks in advance..

Not quite sure what "Rustolium" is, but Canadian Tire carries a brand called Tremclad, or something close to that. It's a rust paint too. I've used it in the past as a general paint with no problems. Seem high quality. Might want to check it out.

If you have Canadian Tire that is, upon saying that, I'm guessing you don't in NYC. Check for the brand down there anyway.

If you can get it apart again, get it powdercoated. I did my gate 5 years ago, the only rust spot is on the lock where the metal is showing.

My dad used Rustoleum on his and its about to rust in 2.

Tremclad is some good stuff but it isn't available in the US IIRC. It is self leveling so a lot of people use it to do a cheap paint job on cars. The pics I've seen have turned out pretty good.

Tremclad is made by rust-oleum. They made a wide variety of paints.

I don't have any problems with Rustoleum, but you DO have to sand, and grind the crap out of whatever it is you are doing first.
You need a decent grinding disc or just go get a cheap electric grinder at Harbor Freight.

    Nothing good is ever easy.
