Guys, I was thinking of painting my enigne lid the same color as the car. I was thinking since the skirts were painted to look more like the 348 Spyder or Speciale why not the rear engine lid as well to match the car. On fence here, I know it is my car but was looking for some opinions. Thanks.

I actually perfer the black. I think it breaks it up a bit and if you have ts, it matches the top kind of.

Either way though - I think it looks fine.

Because we all know what 348 looks like, we have seen it in every angles. As soon as we look at the painted rear bonnet, we know it was a self added on paint job. and, it's sort of funny to see things like that I think... It will be different, but not necessary prettier.

Paint it. If you don't like it paint it back black. It'll look great either way.

I think in keeping with your SS paint sceme, I think it would be ok to paint the rear bonnet. They are paint body color on '93 and up anyway.

It's your car. Paint it if you want to paint it and tell anyone who doesn't like it to shove it. If they don't like it, they don't have to look at it.

When I painted the the lowers I figured, why not, went all the way and did everything. I painted the lower rockers, bumpers, the targa top, and the engine lid. It looks much better.

    Paint it.

If you do paint it there is the company Senik paint in orange county. they are on the web too. They are very reliable guys. Send them your fuel door and they can match your paint perfectly for about 40 bucks. Ask Ernie my roll cage paint color matched perfectly. Too bad the painter was a fool

I don't know why you shouldn't paint your engine lid the same colour as the car.

We all know that it is black till the end of 1993 (ts/tb)
From the end of 1993 on (gtb/gts) they were all painted in the car's colour.

But I think that there were not so much of the upgraded gtb/gts's exported to the US...

I would say paint it if you like. But if you paint the engine cover, you might as well paint the targa panel. I have an 89 348 in the same paint scheme you currently have, but I like the look of the black roof and engine cover. I have seen the newer models with painted roofs and they look great also. Obviously I am of no help here today.

    To add balance here..

Mine is painted body colour but I wish it weren't! Same with rockers (or sills as we call them here).

Luckily nobody got to my roof with a paint gun, as that would be near impossible to return to pre painted condition once done, particularly if it had been de-bobbled in the process!
