I have owned my 2000 360 modena since august 2006, and I have noticed small pimples under the paint, around the front of the bonnet(hood) and also the top of the front wings. I live in the highlands of scotland ,where my car lives under a custom car cover- snow, wind & frost -no alternative- too wide for my garage. Does anyone have any suggestions ,on what could be causing the problem , and if there is a fix, apart from a paint job

    Alan,

Its pretty impossible to say for sure what your problem is without seeing the car but it may be micro blistering this can be caused by water penetration or rust.

You will need to take the car to a good paintshop and see what they say and yes it will need to be repainted.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Phil.

This could be moisture building up under the car cover, since it stays covered all the time.

I agree with Jack, you are probably getting some moisture under that cover from condensation. I occasionally see that here in Oregon where it occasionally rains also. You need to widen your garage and get a new paint job.

I had the same issue with a Porsche that was parked with a outside covered for an extended period of time. It's probably less damaging to leave it uncovered, though the only real solution is a garage.

What kind of cover do you have?
Some covers are better than others; some actually won't let water in, but allow air to breath out.
The one I have is made with "Technalon 2" material.
Another temporary solution may be to put-up one of those temporary garages that they advertise in the back os Auto magazines.
