This forum has been able to answer all my questions and that IMO is priceless! Now I have a tough one--------at least for me. I am repainting our 308 because of checking on the front end. I am having a problem with cratering and my supplier has no knowledge of his products and I have been fed mis-information, therefore I cannot trust them. I e-mailed Dupont not expecting an answer and I didnot receive one. I am asking anyone in this forum that has knowledge of Dupont auto finishes to please PM me for a small discussion ,if it is not asking for too much. still lost

Sounds like fish-eye. It's normaly caused by silicone. It doesn't take much. Even under arm deoderant worn by the guy spraying can ruin the finish. As a last resort you can add fish-eye eliminator. I've used it and it works, but subsequent repairs will require it's use.

I am familiar with and used fish-eye eliminator! What I am looking for is product knowledge. I have researched Dupont products on the internet and when I find a product number that doesn't agree with what I was sold I get a reply like " Oh ,that was discontinued and what we gave you "SHOULD WORK" ! Needless to say, I don't need the should work solution. All I want is facts---------- I am (not by choice) mixing the Nason system with the Chromo system and I am not sure that can be done. We live (by choice) in a secluded part of the world where product is in short supply and knowledge of said product even less. I am not looking for a blame game, just the facts so I can get back on the road. lost

Maybe try posting in the Technical Q&A section. I'm sure someone there will help.
    Good luck.

I believe my problem was solved by Al from Wales and alsaautomotive. The problem is ME the last cars I painted were some 30 yrs. ago and the tech. has changed. I am getting what is termed "solvent popping" and the solvent from a previous coat was not yet dry and the fact is that I acheived a glass finish by laying on the gun. I was amazed that the stuff would not run. Anyway . just an old dog learning the new tricks. But that new basecoat/ clearcoat system sure does have a deep lustre.
And that's all I know about that, still lost
